Truck Chugging
Truck Chugging
hey guys, i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem being its not throwing a code and thought id just see if there was a "common cause"
Just started right before warranty was up, but dealer says there is no problem, but its there so i can take it back within reason. anyway.
Few weeks ago it just died right after start up, I started it put in reverse and then it died. I thought that was weird. Now when driving around 45 mph it will chug or surge or jump or whatever you wanna call it, Dont see any change on the tach but who knows if its changing enough to make a diffrence. few weeks ago i finally had my first dpf 80% full as well which is right after a new dpf was installed.
Any common causes known?

a little more info needed but it sounds like typical surge at slow speeds. always drive with Exhaust brake ON. this helps keep the slide in the turbo moving and soot/carbon buildup to a minimum. are you driving with tow/haul mode on?
one thing that I have noticed since running beta smarty on my new truck is at slow speeds with very light pedal pressure it has a very slight surge but i can't blame smarty for that since throttle response is more touchy.
as for dpf 80% full, its cause you are stacking smarty/edge together. edge is not capable of shutting off dpf/egr, yes smarty is but with extra fueling, the dpf is going to get plugged up faster and if you are running smarty ME software, the truck will not go into regen to burn it off the soot. I loaded smarty ME on my new truck just for gigles and within 3 miles it set a check engine light with an Exhaust pressure sensor performance code.
only way to cure that is to do deletes and forget about it OR you can only run the "S" software to have the ability to regen when its plugged. offload smarty (if you have ME software installed and still have dpf etc installed), hook up a trailer (heavy) and go for a long pull and whoop it to clear that stuff out.
OR
your turbo is going bad.

Quick clearification. The programmers are currently not installed on the truck. They were till 60k went in for a engine light that was for the airflow and they said it had a lot of flashes on it cleared the number and nnoted it in the system. Soooo until warranty was up they remained off. Think its turbo related?
