Tranny service soon, anything else I should do?

I just ordered a tranny pan from Geno's. It is back ordered so I am waiting to do my tranny service. The truck has 29,000 miles so it is time. This truck tows for a living so I want a nice strong tranny.

While I have the pan dropped to change fluid and filters is there anything else that I should do. I do not have a ton of money but some times there are small things that can really help.

Thanks

I was told to ALWAYS use the Mopar filters. This was from a man that builds some of the strongest transmissions in the drag racing and sled pulling business, and is not affiliated with Mopar.

That doesn't leave many to choose from any more. In the case of the 48RE, DBLR is correct. Any good quality filter will work. The problem is the spin on filter used in the 68RFE. From what I was told, the aftermarket versions of these have killed more than several perfectly good transmissions. I prefer to not take that chance.

As you know there are two filters for the 68RFE transmission. There is also an "o-ring" that is part of the spin on filter kit. Make sure that you remove the old "o-ring" and install the new "o-ring" as required. This must be pushed into the "o-ring" grove first by your fingers before installing the spin on filter. This is a tight fit but must be done correctly or the filter will leak internally.
