something is bad wrong.... maybe

Here's my scenerio.......I get up to go to work or anywhere, crank the truck, and get constant white smoke for a few seconds. I can rev the motor a few times and it goes away. I proceed to work and when I crank up to come home, same thing happens again, white smoke. This happens basically any and every time the truck sits for a few hours.

Now........I had to put my cat and dpf crap back on a few weeks ago to get some recall work done. When I fire it up....no smoke at all....I take it back off after a week of no smoke and put my dpf delete back on....back to the white smoke again!

If I had to take an educated guess, something is cracked or leaking where it shouldn't be. I really need some help on this from you guys because I can't go to the dealer with this issue.

Do you have the egr unplugged...

I have mine unplugged and when it starts cold will give a puff of white smoke and surge about three times, only when cold though. Never paid it much mind cause it acts normal when starting warm and figured it was something do to with the egr system and a cold start.

Nah, my egr is still in place. I haven't gotten brave enough yet to mess with it. Maybe when I get an edge juice w/ attitude. Mine does it cold and warm.

Almost sounds like your grid heater isn't working or something, but with it being warm outside right now, I can't imagine the truck would be cold enough to produce white smoke.

Sounds almost like a leaky injector. Not sure why it would stop with the dpf and cat back on.. Maybe they baffle the smoke just enough you cant see it? Just a guess

nah, sounds more like a leaking injector. Keep an eye on your oil levels. If it starts getting higher then you've got fuel leaking. Another way to check is to put a drop of oil on a white napkin and hold it up to light - sometimes you can see the fuel spreading out around the outside. It'll be a different hue than the oil.

edit: Cincy beat me by a minute!!!

This throws a curveball into it. Just dont worry about it for a while. If it starts getting worse, then start doing some analysis. Maybe feed it some Lucas or other fuel additive and see if that helps.

I'm by no means a mechanic at all and I may be wrong here, but if it were a leaky injector, wouldn't the smoke be black? Some of the experts chime in and correct me if needed please. Another observation of mine.... seeing as how the smoke comes out right when I get it cranked, this means that whatever the fluid is has to be ignited.... I only know of one place this happens! LOL So is some sort of fluid other than fuel getting to the fire? Come on yall, let me hear it.

Nope - she'd be white. I personally can't explain why - but when my injectors went, that was the indicator that it was an injector (white smoke at start up - do a search in the 2003 and up forums, and you'll find lots of info there).
