Smoke...

Dunno if anyone else has gotten their 6.7 to smoke at all, but when i am going slow, or at just low RPM's no matter the speed, if i let off and then mash the throttle i can actually get my truck to blow a little smoke.. more than any 5.9 stocker i've ever seen.. as soon as the turbo catches up, which only takes about 2 seconds, the smoke stops, but i was actually amazed that it smokes... Does an even better cloud when i have about 8k lbs behind me... Maybe its just my elevation too... I live at 7200 feet. The truck didnt do this for the first 1500 miles tho... Interesting...

Mine started it at 950 miles. Been doing it ever since. Elevation probably doesn't have much to do with it. I was in Port Aransas when it started. Pretty much sea level.

Elevation does help smoke output. It will smoke at sea level, but it will smoke more at elevation. The turbo is less efficient due to lack of air. I live at 8500ft and my 5.9 smokes a LOT more at this elevation than at sea level.

That, I understand. My truck just seems to be doing EXACTLY what n0ne's is. It has 1600 miles on it right now and it pretty much blows smoke at all speeds so long as it is getting throttle input.

Funny thing is, the dealership said it was smoke from the regeneration process. It must be regenerating ALL the time. The techs at the dealerships here in Austin seem to be behind in the curve on these new engines.

If your 6.7L is putting out any black smoke, you are damaging the dpf. The dpf is supposed to catch all of the black smoke (ie particulates).

If its white or even light grey, it should be ok, but I would say something is not right (coolant leak or something).

The engine will not regen the dpf at idle. When you put it in park, it goes back to "normal" operation.

I wondered about this. I figure, it's under warranty, drive it and let Dodge worry about it.

I can't discuss it, or I'd have to kill you!

The power increase is great - you all will see them on the shelf soon!
