Shutter on take off? 6 spd auto

Hey guys quick question. I have a 40 ft goose that I tow and last night hooked it up to the new to me. 07.5. Had a bit of shutter in like first and second gear when taking off. Pulled great though. Not sure if it was wheel spin or not. Felt kinds like it. But couldn't verify. Just wondering if there is a known prob with the 6 speed auto

I had a shutter with the old '99 while towing (auto) but I expected the tranny was getting tired again. Have not had with my '07.5 and 6 speed auto. So far (39K miles) I have not had any issues. Really like the new 6 speed auto.

If you were on soft soil and got on it taking off, it could be wheel hop, but as for shuddering, not sure. How does the oil look and smell? I just changed my tranny filters last night and after 60,000 miles there was very little material on the magnet. I would check your fluid and maybe do a filter and fluid change.

I had it happen once pulling into a campsite on the beach with a trailer, it was wheel hop in my case, I aired down since I hadnt yet and went to 4 low and towed the trailer right up into my soft sand camp site without another issue. If you're on pavement and your tires arent spinning im not sure what to tell you. Maybe have someone stand by and watch you take off to see if your tires are spinning and causing wheel hop

I had the shudder as well. There have been a lot of posts about it on all the sites. Many of them recommended a transmission overhaul. Those statements always seemed very much premature to me. The BA flash certainly did help but there was still a shudder off the line while pulling. Early last summer I read on one of the sites that dealers were recommending the addition of 2 oz. of Mopar limited slip additive to the transmission fluid. This would help the 68RFE clutch packs lock up and eliminate the slippage. So I put some in and my shudder was gone! I hope that this helps.

Depends on what type of shutter it is. Does it do it just as your starting and is fairly light. Mine did it a lot because i had 35's on but you would also notice it with stock tires just not as much. The fix is to go to the one piece 08 driveshaft. Yours has a carrier bearing in the center of the shaft and that is where the shutter is coming from. Do a search there is a ton of info on this.
Some people have been able to shim the carrier bearing down a little and fix it. I just replaced the whole shaft, Dodge will tell you not to because there is a TSB saying not to that the one piece will hit the carrier bearing housing. This is stupid, you just need to unbolt the whole carrier bearing housing. Simple as that.

I agree, driveshaft related. I had the same problem with mine with/without a load. I shimmed the carrier bearing and the shuttering stopped.

With the longer leaf spring design of the DR, DH trucks axle wind-up is a common issue. Some trucks do it. Some don't. In my experience add on air bags seem to be the best cure. Larger than stock tires can exagerate the issue also.

Drive shaft would make sense, I feel a very slight one unloaded, when i put my gooseneck My truck squats pretty bad with it..... weird the shutteri s very bad, I was thinkin trans slip, but then thoguht might be engine related as it sounds pingy when it happens. So my smarts said power brake and i had something. So yeppie, I think ill shim it!
