sentry key fob & stealing a truck

while I was in west Texas my dog got our spare keys down and chewed up the key fobs to my wife's 08 and my 06

I just tried to move her truck, she has the good fob at work so I went out with the chewed up key fob and it started and died using the key with the demolished fob

so how do they steal our truck without the needed key fob if the truck won't run?

I guess I'll need to go to the dealer and get new fobs and get them programmed since what I've read is you need at least 2 working fobs to program another

needless to say my dog is in trouble

Larry, this is a coincidence that may help a few of us. I am down one key and I am certain that my sister inlaws dog got the other one. I read somewhere that we can order keys and program them ourselves for about 1/3 the price of the dealer.

Is there anyone on here that knows where to get the programmable keys?

Mine is an 07.

I got a few regular keys cut so that I can get into the truck for those times when I have locked the Sentry key in the truck...whoops. And for when I leave the truck running and locked.

Scotty

the funny thing is our dogs started raising heck about 2:00 am, Rhonda had forgetten to kennel my dog, anyway she looked out the window and the lights were flashing on her truck and the horn honking, got out the pistol, looked around, couldn't see anything (of course it stopped when the dogs heard her)

happened again about 3:00 a.m, again get the gun, don't see anything but of course scared to death, glad I wasn't there when she got up that morning and figured out what happened

her fault for not kenneling Beary, but dammed funny

I'd still like to know how someone without the sentry key fob can steal a truck when I can't even drive the truck down the driveway with one my dog has chewed up

There is probably a way to get the key info off the ECM and program a couple of keys real quick, or just hook up to it and fix it later.

Dang keys just keeps an honest man out...

Not sure how they can steal the truck but as for keys, eBay id a great placemto get blanks. Problem is finding a place to cut. Most places say the will destroy the key if they try and cut. The vendor I got my keys from had a listing of friendly locksmiths I've the US that would be able to cut the keys and program them. Not sure if they had the ability to program with only one key or not. If you have two keys it is pretty simple. I have a couple extras that I keep at home incase of lost or eaten keys. Each key was $5 and had local hardware store, with clueless clerk, cut the keys. Another $1 per key. Works out well. Don't quote me but I think you can have up to 6 keys set up for each truck.

They stole my dad's 06 Lincoln truck , my dad still had both keys from the factory to give to the insurance, and they did ask for them. They paid out the loan.
My 6.7 had an alarm being put in by a friend of a friend who is into electrical systems on cars, and I asked him how they stole the truck without the keys unless they had another made. He explained how simple it was and I was not paying close attn but he said that you can bypass and basically hot wire it by putting some "some" miliamp resistor somewhere in the wiring he showed me but I was not paying much attention just wanted to know if it was possible.

Those remote mods still need a key put. In them or programmed to an active key.
