Regeneration

It's been several years since my truck went into regeneration. I think it happened twice before. Both times were surprises because I ended up driving my truck another 15 minutes or so to get the message to go away. I have a 2007 bone stock 6.7 that I drive very rarely. The weather out here in Southern California is nice enough for me to ride my motorcycle the majority of the time when I go to work.

I've never towed anything (contrary to what my plans were at the time when I bought the truck) and I rarely ever get the RPMs close to red line except when I'm entering the highway and I'm feeling the need for speed. I drive with the exhaust brake the majority of the time, especially in traffic.

I think I've received several flashes based on recalls and shotty sensors. If I recall, it was around 25k miles and 40k miles when my truck went into regeneration. Should I be worried that I haven't gone into regeneration in a long time?

most of the time it goes in to regen and you don't even know it the only time you know it needs regen is when it shows on the overhead but if you drive it at highway speeds for any extened miles it goes into regen without letting you know it has so in my opinion all is good

If you don't see any black soot on the tail pipe outlet then the DPF is still working. Usually the DPF will crack or become face plugged causing a loss of power and check engine light to come on. Fuel mileage will drop a little while in regen mode.

Take a gander at this and you'll know more about a regen than you ever wanted to know: http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...9-Regeneration

Thanks for the reply. I'm still pretty excited about this truck and since i bought it, I've had a few growing pains. Regardless, I still plan on driving this truck until my dying day or at least until I win the Lotto or something. Even then I won't get rid of it. I'll just fix it up and make it my show truck or something.

Thanks again!

Plan on a regen occurring every 100-200 miles depending on use, unless you are close to plugging the DPF you will not be notified.
