P2262 vs. exh. brake?

My mechanic explained the 2262 is from the little box on the side of the turbo which is electronic and not a turbo failure. The box is matched to the turbo and that's why they have to do a complete replacement.

All codes are electronic.

In the case of a P2262, the electrical current required to move the turbine nozzle goes above the maximum allowed (also called high motor effort). It's usually caused by soot building up on the dowel pins that the nozzle slides on. It can also be cause by foreign object debris causing the nozzle to "bind". Also called a "stuck actuator".

The "box" on the side of the vgt is a water cooled electrically controlled actuator. So in effect, your "box" is fine, but the vgt is mechanically sticking so the whole assembly is replaced.
