OK OK another tire ? Toyo A/T

How are the toyo a/t's for offroad? Now i probably do very little "offroading", but i also don't like getting stuck. How are they in the mud? Or in snow? They look like they will handle the ice ok but what about deep snow?

Problem i am having is getting tired of waiting for the M55's to come out in a correct tire size. Next problem i have is the wheels i want are also very weird sizes, either 17x8, or 18x9.5. I don't want a very tall tire or want to go wider by much either. So please don't turn this into a " i like these tires" kind of thread, i've done the leg work and have come to the conclusion based on what i want with what is available that it will come down to the toyo a/t's. Just want to know what to look forward with them with the simple little 3 questions i asked above. IF i don't like what i hear about the a/t's then yes i will do more research and once again put up yet another tire question and get all you great people to educate me once again. aahh sometimes i talk to much........

I have had 5 sets of the A/T's now and love them!! I have had them on a Durango, a 1500 Chevy, my 99 Ram and my new 08 Ram. The snow handling is good but not as good as the M55's I had. The Snow handling is awsome!! I have had some pretty deep snow to go through and never had any issue with these.
I put my newest set on the truck with a grand total of 200 miles on because of a huge snowstorm coming and the stockers are such junk in the snow. Money well spent. My FIL has a set of these that he had on 2 trucks for over 50K miles and replaced them with tread still on them. VERY IMPRESSIVE!! I know the M55's I had only got about 19K before they were gone.

I put the 285/70/17's on and although I like them they were a tick smaller than I was expecting.

PowerDiesel44,

I have been up your way and plain and simple the AT's will not work in the Alberta gumbo (aka loon Edit). Super Swampers and 500Hp are about right up there!

The farther you get from the highway the better the MT's will look. Of course they are not as good on the highway.....If it were me and I was spending a lot of time off road I would go with the MT's.

Ya i was wanting to try the m55's but such poor sizing. Plus the rim i want if memory serves me correct comes in 17x8 or 18x9.5. Don't believe the largest m55 will work on the 19,5 wheel, i think the tire is an 8. problem is i want to tow with the 5er mostly highway miles but will take the odd trip as we say into the "loon ****" where i know the m/t's would give me a fighting chance, but i really think i need to go with the most agressive a/t for what i need.

M55's are toyo's kind of commercial/ a/t tire. Nice tire you can see them on there site.

Look at the Toyo Open country M/t's They come in a better tire size range and maybe have what you need. They also come in an E rating.

I have the M55 and nothing stands up better in the gravel and they are awesome in the winter compared to other mud terrains. Problem is they don't make a 285 in 17" wheels.
