oil change

I have a 08 and i was wondering why the oil is so black after the oil change. I let it drain for about 20 minutes before putting the plug back in. in the owners manual it says if it is black then fuel is getting in it. my brother has a 02 and is is real clean even when it has about 3 thousand on it. it has the 6.7 and I was wondering if this is normal.

Lots of threads on this particular subject. Besides the fuel getting into the oil, the oil itself has a high detergent content and keeps all the sediment in the engine in suspension. If you ever get the chance to look into a diesel engine with some miles on it and an oil pan off, you'll think the motor was new. No varnish or sludge. Mine will be black after running thirty minutes or so after an oil change. Normal.

My trucks before the '03s kept the oil cleaner alot longer. More like a normal car. There are more injections made into the cylinder now to make them quieter among other things, instead of one.

It is due to one thing and one thing only Ther EGR!!!! That frickin thing is EVIL and will do no good for your engine!! It dumps pure exhaust int the intake of the engine and fill the whole thing with soot!!

Unplug the egr on top of the intake and run it and see how well you like it. Everyone that does loves it
