New Turbo

Took the truck to dealer the other day with intermittant check engine light with a P2262 code. (turbo boost not detected, mechanically). Dealer where i bought the truck told me it was just a glitch, then it happened a few more times, and after a few starts it would turn off, so i took it to the dealer that has been servicing my trucks for the last 5 years and they told me to leave it for the day so they could do a few tests.....At the end of the day they called and told me that truck was going to need a new turbo....they put it back together and said its fine to drive with no performance or reliability risks, and that they'll have the turbo in a few days and they'll need a day to put it in.... i must say, my dealer is top notch, says as soon as it gets here we will squeeze you right in right away......

Hope all will be welll,

other than that i have 5k on the odometer and i love the truck, tows 10k with out even thinking twice

I have been hearing about the replacement of the turbos but nobody ever has any problems with drivability? Are they replacing the whole turbo just due to a sensor?

I didn't notice any big difference in the performance of the truck but I was not towing when I had my issue. I have an about 7% grade hill about 1 mile long on my way to work, still no problem. The e-brake did not work on mine though. I drove it for about 3 days while I waited to get it in.

I just got mine back from the dealer two days ago, turbo replacement, runs fine. They also checked things and determined it needed a turbo, it's actually the variable vane control gear that "cokes up" ,this part is not servicable according to Dodge so you replace the whole turbo.
They told me to drive it because there would be about a week to get the parts. After two days of normal driving and about 300 miles with a trailer I started it and it would barely move, luckily the dealer was 1/2 mile away. Top speed was 17mph.

I Have heard of this coking problem before, and the dealer said to that person to use the exhaust brake all the time to prevent this problem.

mine is in the shop right now getting the turbo, i took it in monday they diagnosed it, ordered the parts and called me yesterday to bring it in.... it ran fine and the e-brake worked, sometimes stronger than it should have.....and replacing that turbo is a big deal, they have to jack up the motor and take one of the motor mounts out to get the new one in there.....pick it up later today......

there is no need to jack up the engine to do the turbo. I've seen six done at the shop I work at. it only requires a special curved wrench to get the turbo mounting bolts off.

So now I have to ask, since this is my first diesel. Does any one know? Should I just run the e-brake all the time? I use the truck as a commuter most days and bought it because I wanted more power and mileage to pull the camper. I don't care while it is under warranty but I won't want to replace a turbo every few thousand miles after it expires.
