new maga cab

Hi I am new here and from Okotoks Alberta, I am a pipeline/oilpatch welder. I just bought a new 07 Mega cab 6.7. I run my trucks for a couple 2-3 years and then flip them for new ones. I see some of you guys are running the 6.7 so I thought I'd ask you guys how you like them? I like the Jake brake on the truck, is there a way to make them sound a little louder? I dont think I could even here the Jake working when I put it on, someone must of thought of a way to
make sound better and louder by now. I dont have a picture of my new welding truck with all the equipment in it so here's on of my 03 welding truck for you to have a look over.

I have a 6.7 with 550 miles on it. So far it is alright, no major problems yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I just took the muffler only off yesterday. A little throatier but you can't really tell the difference from the seat. NADP from up in your neck of the woods is working on an exhaust system, they say it should be ready in the next couple weeks. I guess it will remove all the particulate filters and the catalytic converter. I'm waiting to see what happens. I'm definitely getting one. The "jake brake" is not a compression release type like on a big truck so it's not going to make much noise. I think the only thing you will hear is the sound of compressed air. But so far I like the truck, they run really well for a stock engine.

Hey rigwelder welcome to DTR my bro workes in the patch near whitecourt AB And I work in the patch near edson AB, the only grief the 6.7 is giving him is the DPF plugs up when he idles the truck, he is very disappointed with it right now and he has 6000KM on it, I have the mate to his truck and am not having that problem but I do not work my truck in the patch, I do like the truck but I doubt its realibity. Dodge engineers I think dropped the ball on this one because not all cummins buyers haul a trailer on the 4-lanes, my own gut feeling is i think the problems are just beginning, in order to clean the DPF you are supposed to drive your truck and get the exhaust hot for 45min, and here is where I think the problems are going to start, what i think is going to happen when the mercury drops to -30 to -45 the exhaust is not going to get hot enough to clean the dpf and if U are on site fo 10 to 12 hours at those temps I know I would want to shut my truck off at all, and if you are only 20 min to site family is more important than taking another 20 min to clean the dpf. I know not much work gets done at those temps but think of the consultants on site and the saftey crews the are on standby sitting in there trucks. but don't loose faith right now we are the lab rats right now until DC figures this out, Oh make sure you truck has the latest update in it, I had mine installed at southridge in okotoks during stampead week and stayed at the inlaws in Turner.

Oh i forgot to mention that i spoke to Nadp In edmonton and they sold their 5.9 for a 6.7 and in the process of developing a exhaust to delete the emmisions on the exhaust you also didn't mention if your truck was a chassis cab or not, chassis cab has different emmisions gear and lower HP rating

Thanks for the welcome guys, I run all my welding trucks with a skid(box&cab). To run a deck on a welding truck would run a guy around $15-20g
thats with out any tools just steel and labour in to build it. There is a few guys that run a deck still but it seems like more old school welding with that said there are still young guys building decks these day, in the oilpatch I'd say its 90% skids(box&cab) and 10% skid(deck&cab) They like to run decks down in the US and have been told by some good old boys that my rig doesn't look as professional as theirs, then I told them what "welding tickets"
I have and would like to see theirs and like alot of welders from down south
(not all) they have never had a welding ticket. I see alot of guys are talking about emmisions on the exhaust, is there some kind of problem with this if so
is there anything I need to ask before I drive the truck off the lot? I have heard that the Fords were shooting flames out their tail pipes 30'

Caper I live in Okotoks and I never take my stuff to the Okotoks Dodge, I go to HighRiver or where ever I am on the road. Its not a 5 star dealership, and there in a reason for that, I've bought 4-5 Dodge trucks/suvs and they have all been bought in other towns because of the way Okotoks Dodge treats people, I m not sure how they stay a float.

I 've never been to the high river dodge, I only take my truck to okotoks maybe 2 a year and only for a matter of convience, I do agree there is no 5 star service, my last visit to southridge was completly fustrating I had to stand over them to get promp service but anyway the next time i'm down south i think i'll check out high river the next time i need a service. Oh and In my own opinion the skid and box set up is alot more practical than a deck, Pull the skid out and hook up the fifth wheel rv for the weekend, and that's money well spent on a work truck.
as for th foird shooting flames I have seen Vids about that, but as far as i know that problem has been solved with a recall.
As for you new ride, like i mentioned earlier check on the update if it was installed i bought mine a month ago and it was not, I foung that the engine oil was over full after i checked it in the morning, the dealer took some out, it's still a little overfull but not as bad as it was,
I had the high idle enabled in my truck, so did my brother cost me $50 if I had known about it before i left the dealer (bought it in BC prices are way better, and first diesel ever owned) i would of made sure it was installed for free.
