Well Jim, I'll be there next week for his squadron's (Sunliners) change-of-command ceremony - maybe I'll see ya!

what if we come get it?

my son in law drove my CTD for me, put ~20k on it during my last few SSBN patrols.

he told my daughter while back: "i wish your dad was still in the Navy, so he was gone to sea, and we could take your mom out to eat in his truck, and she would pay"

silly me, why did i ever get out?

are you serious? If you are i appreciate the gesture but i don't think i trust my own mother with $43,000 truck. Probably going to put it in the long term storage lot on base, i just need to know what needs to be done to preserve the truck for long periods of time. my old 99 ram sat for 5 months and it was rough starting back up. Once i had her warmed up it was fine, except for the dried out belt and rusty brakes.

don't put a cover on it - when you put it there, you will see why, they were always destroyed by time we got back, did more damage than good.

i would put the tires at max psi - to eliminate flat spotting.

doing a 6 month or longer?
i don't think we had any problems with 3 month (SSBN) or 6 month (SSN) deployments and flat spotting.

dead batteries & flat tires were the norm.

You could set it up on jackstands to keep the tires from flatspotting. This is assuming it's parked in a garage or storage somewhere that people won't be around it.

will be on asphalt in an open parking, surrounded by barbed wire.

you would be amazed what happens to stuff that sits for 6 mos, those jackstand would halfway back to china time he came home.

it will be fine, we had a boy with an old 12v,
cleaned battery post, jumped it alil bit, he was sucking earth & blowing coal in a few minutes.
