muffler delete/warranty issues 6.7l

Hello everyone,
Does anyone know if deleting the muffler and replacing it with a 4in. pipe will cause warranty issues on the 6.7l?

technically if you change the freakin air pressure in the tires I think it can cause issues!! lol but it all just depends on your dealer, some are by the book, & others let some small stuff slide, but I'd be careful doing it, as new as all this stuff on the 6.7L is we may all need our warranties!! My dealer told me that it would only void the exhaust warranty. Say your turbo goes out and you have the muffler delete they can not by law say that your warranty is void unless they can PROVE that it was cause by your alteration to the different part of the truck. You just have to stick with your guns.

I know a dealer that will void the warrenty if the truck is used in the oilfield, they say it's being used for off road, than explain to me the purpose of the winch on the front of the power wagon to pull a deer back to your truck.lol

I wouldn't touch anything on a 6.7 cause you're going to need that warranty.

That's a bunch of crap. I have over a half million miles running in the oilfields and have never had a problem getting warranty work done. The only problem I have with warranty is it never lasts long enough. You need to find another dealer.

You cannot bypass the DPF filter element on 07' emissions. The engine will not run and you will constantly get codes for the filter element "missing." The Delta PSI sensor takes a measurement of before and after the DPF element. Also, I'm pretty sure it's against the law for the new emissions. I wouldn't recommend at all.

That's funny and kinda true

I think your wrong on this one, some are already doing it(read some of the other threads), a strait pipe should read like a really clean DPF But your very correct on the legalities, I think we're going to see lots of "off road" 6.7s out there!

A good friend owns a Chevy dealer and the "word on the Chevy dealer street" is(on Chevys anyway) that GM is going to offer GM aftermarket accessories, everything from tires to exhaust to lift kits. If you use ANYTHING other than a GM accessory, your warranty is gone. Seems to me this would not be real easy w/ the moss magnuson warranty act.

I retract my earlier statement, I was just in our shop and took one completely off, it will run, didn't drive it though. I don't know how the "Learned Data" for the EECU will play out.

He pulled just the muffler? I don't understand how not having a muffler would screw up the filter reading.

It won't. The muffler is behind the DPF. There are a lot of people who are posting on this subject that have never even been under one of the new trucks and looked at the exhaust system. Also a lot of people that are posting what they "heard" or what a "friend said". There are some problems, but a lot of this posting is just rumor or what someone "heard". Lets think about what we post before we do it.
