low sulfur fuel in a 6.7
If you remove all the smog junk on a 6.7, can you run the old low sulfur fuel instead of the ultra low sulfur fuel? I have over 1000 gallons of the low sulfur fuel that I burn in my 07 5.9 and I am thinking about getting a 4500 or 5500 and this would be great if you could use it.

Sorry, but that's short term gain vs long term loss.
Better see if Alaska is going to be emissions testing those units, prior to removing this equipment. Remember it's a federal offense to tamper with these systems.

I was told by my dealer that LSD fuel will damage the injector even with a DPF delete. The injector need the lower PPM sulfur fuel.

The reason I want to run low sulfur is that my supply is also endless and it is well over $1.00 a gallon cheaper. I run it in my jetta, dozer, tractor and my 3500 and if I get a 4500, I would like to run it in that as well if I remove all the smog stuff. Not too worried about inspections where I am at.

i wonder the difference in injectors on the 6.7 and 5.9 cause we all ran the higher sulfur fuel no problems like off road for me not that many years ago, doesnt seem like they changed much internal for it to run on this fuel that smells like elmers glue 15ppm. you would think it would just be better lube.just thinkin...

Your dealer is full of it. About half of the stations around here, (south Texas) and nearly all the truck stops in the Corpus Christi, Victoria area do not have ULSD. My truck now has over 218,000 miles running whatever is there when I need fuel. No injector problems at all. You might have to regen more often, but it will not hurt your injectors.

I guess all the dealers must be "full of it".When I was shopping for my truck, I had two dealers tell me that the LSD would clogg the injectors on the 6.7 . Since late 06 and early 2007, I have seen nothing but ULSD at the pumps here in North Texas. No, I haven't tested it, but I have bought some for tractor fuel and it doesn't even look like diesel fuel. Yellowish in appearance. Oh, dealer here said injectors were about 5k.

Keep telling them it is ok. Are you truly sure that the LSD and not ULSD? Did you have it tested ? Just because the pump has a sticker does not mean anything. It also voids the warranty on the injectors, pumps and such including the DPF. I for one am going to listen to my service manager before just taking your word as they are the ones warranting the truck. I would also point out that the owners manual even states it, and yea I know it for EPA reasons mainly but with injectors at the price of a used truck 10k, I would rather play it safe. Someone should talk to a Bosch service center to really get the scoop. If they say it in writing then I would go along that path. They also have been phasing LSD fuel out since 2005 and as of January 2010 all fuel will be ULSD.

I believe if you put an external pump on your auxiliary tank, you'd have a good argument for having red-dyed fuel to use in your off-road vehicles. Maybe not. I don't know how much they really inspect, but I have a toggle switch in mine to quickly switch to the stock fuel tank.
I have to admit I've been tempted to run the red fuel, but I've never had the cojones to pull the trigger on it.

I know it happens, but I've never been dipped, and I've been running these 90-100 gallon auxiliary tanks for many years towing trailers all over Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas, California, New Mexico, Montana, Utah, Idaho, and on and on. I don't run red-dyed fuel though. I'd be a nervous wreck.
