Keep my 5.9L or get a 6.7L

Hey guys i am not quite sure what i should do. Here's my dilemema...I'm going to Iraq at the end of the year, well i either have to find a place to store my truck for a year or sell it. I would be back in the end of 2010 and beginning of 2011 I really like my 5.9L nothing bad about it just have almost 100K on it. I like the fact of a 6spd exhaust brake and warranty and minus 100K. Should i keep my 5.9L or try and sell it for a 2011 when i get home?

I would keep it in storage and then come up with a wish list of parts while you are there thats what I did I helped me stay motivated thinking about all the go fast parts I was gonna put on once I got back. Do you know where you are going yet approx.?

It comes down to storage. Do you have a place to store the truck, and can someone drive it once in a while to keep it up? If yes I'd keep it, if not I'd sell it and either buy new or another 5.9L when you return.

The other thing to think about is payments. A new truck comes with new payments, not something to look forward to. Alternately if you're still paying on your current truck it might be helpful to not have the payments while you are overseas.

Have a 6.7..... Miss my 5.9

While I like my '09 6.7, I loved my '04.5 5.9. The 5.9 seemed to pull harder and was quicker when passing. Plus my 5.9 would get an honest 20-22 miles to the gallon on the highway. Best I have seen with the '09 is 17.5mpg

I like the 5.9 and it's lack of smog cr@p more than I like the 6-speed auto & exhaust brake of the new trucks.

That's why I bought my 5.9 when the 6.7's were on the dealership's lot.
I'd keep what you have.

If you sell it, you'll take the depreciation hit on your current truck..and when you get a new truck, you'll take another depreciation hit at some point with it.

Rent a storage unit; they're not that expensive. Put it up in long term storage while you're gone.

I though when service personel deploy they have a vehicle storage place for free.My son deployed and his is in storage right now.2010 truck pricing is any one guess.2010 is when the new HD comes out,so there may not be much movement on the redesign for awhile. With 789 dealerships closing now is the time to buy one and store it.Just look for a dealer that's is close to you that is on the hitlist, the list is up on the web now, most of these dealers in about 30-45 days will be going way back of invoice on all their trucks, since Chyrsler is not buying back their inventory,so they have 3 choice's sell public/auction/or another dealer who what's their truck or trucks, but with a 98 day supply on hand right now I douht many dealer's will what anything. So they will make a deal with you.So by the time you get back there probably won't be much dealing rebates and finnacing.May God keep you safe my friend, and have a safe deployment.

Keep the 5.9 and store it. Who knows what will be going on with Dodge when you get back.

P.S. Keep safe over there and thanks for your service!
