Talking just a little wistel

well just doing a little looking around and found this. It is suppose to eliminate intake noise and turbo whistle. Well whats the point in having a turbo diesel if you cant even here just a little turbo. I don't mean like in my 92 and 96 were it can lead to hearing loss. I mean you cant hear it if you turn the radio on just enough to here the words. Soon I will replace the intake with one I have built but for now this is just FYI. If you remove the center tube from the intake you can push all this out the top with out hurting anything and it will just push back in if you want. Also don't plan on just pulling the silencer ring out buy just removing a snap ring, its epoxied in. I think I could get it out but I don't want all that hassle and noise.

This is not going to make any nore power just a little noise

Wow! I didn't know there was so much stuff inside that tube!! You could always get the replacement piece that Genos sells too.
As for the silencer ring, I have been told that removing it will cause warranty issues on a 6.7 so I'm not messing with it......

I need some turbo noise BTW. You cannot hear it at all......

This will help in the noise department......especially with the exhaust brake engaged.

I have no plans to remove the ring. I already made a few boxes like that for 5.9's and it will bolt right in and I can make my own tube but I really like that one. I even made mine with the lovers in the bottom. Did you notice any MPG increase?

I've only put about 100 miles on it since installed........after about 350 more miles and I'm low on fuel, I'll re*check.

So, on a different topic, when the exhaust brake is engaged it is very audible inside the cab. Can you even hear it outside??? I can't tell.....

Removed mine yesterday, but did not notice any difference. It was raining so I did not lower the window, but could not hear it in the cab.

I pulled mine off yesterday too. I can hear the turbo a little bit but it's still not enough. I will be getting a replacement filter or a whole new intake. I haven't decided yet....

Just now noticed it; it was easily wiped off when I went outside to check it a few minutes ago. The rust apparently accumulated where that part of the hoist was not completely clear coated. I don't foresee any future loss of sleep over it.
