Interesting findings with air filters
Have you ever tried a Napa Gold stock replacement part# 6930 (Wix part# 46930) for your 6.7? I use a stock replacement Napa Gold 2846 in my 5.9 and I have never been able to make the filter minder move.
relocate the batteries to under the rear of the truck making room under the hood for dual bhaf's, and the batteries weight will be off your front axle and where you need it for traction........... dual bhaf's will flow some air !
Well, I was going to pull the AFE and put the stock filter back in just now and the minder is not even pulled down at all. This is after three days of hauling the trailer around. I'm starting to wonder if I ever reset the minder after running the stock 5.9 filter. Man, it stinks getting older..........
Dodgezilla, did not know you were buying the filter for a science fair project. Did you clean and oil or just use it? It should not have needed cleaning it only had 7k miles but I guess it would not hurt. It was on my 5.9 and it did not move the filter gauge and that is towing a 15k 5th wheel. I replaced it with a AFE dry flow. I will check the gauge this weekend.
How is everyone's loan application going? I am thinking about a 2nd mortgage on the house. At least you can write off the interest, just a little tax advice.

Wade234, everything is a project that I put on this truck. Yes I cleaned and oiled it beofre putting it on. I am really starting to believe that I just forgot to push the button to reset the minder. Oh well, I got it to see if mileage would increase and that has not happened. Pulling the trailer around empty (5000lb) I'm getting a whopping 9mpg max.......
MPG's
I don't understand all the mileage issues people are taking about. I have 650 miles on mine so far and get 17 mpg empty and 10 - 12 mpg towing a 10,000# fifth wheel. That is all hand calculated. I can get 300 miles on half a tank empty. I have a 2008 6.7 long box, 4x4, with 6 spd manual. I did tell the dealer to make sure it had all the latest flash on it before I picked it up. I think as long as you say below 70 miles per hour or 2,000 rpm you will be fine. I have owned 3 dodge cummins here is what there mileage was 2002 dually long box, 6 spd manual, 4x4 16 empty 8 - 10 mpg towing 10,000#. Second truck 2004.5 2500 short bed, 4x4, 6 spd manual, 19 mpg empty 11 - 12 mpg towing 10,000#. I get a little less than my 2004.5, but I only have 650 miles on the clock. When I bought my 2004.5 new it got about the same mileage as my 2008 or worse until I had about 30,000 miles or so on it. I love this new truck so far it pulls like heck and the e-brake is very cool.
not to be a smart Edit but have you thought of going back to your stock size tires? I had 285's Nitto Grapplers on my 05' and lost 1.5 MPGs so when I needed new treads I just went back to origianls, I know they look bad Edit but it's not worth the loss in MPG's the way these diesel prices are !
As for me I just traded my 05' on a 08' and am one half the way threw my 1200 mile vacation to SD from Ia and was getting 20.25 hand calulated doing 73-77MPHwith no cruise on, and the truck only has 700 miles on it. I do nt believe in the crusie control helping you on milage I've tryed both ways and have always gotten better with it off!
As for my 05' I was getting 17.3 to 17.85 in mixed driving empty, and 15 hauling a 16' dump trailer with skid loader in it.
I loved my 05' and am more impressed with the 08' I fell they are hideing the numbers somewhere this thing has a heck of a lot more power then the 05' now just a way to unleash it's try hidden power with out voiding the warrenty!
Stupid Edit feds
all ways Edit things up for us small business owners I wounder why we can't make it!

My mileage did not change one bit when I switched over to the 285s. Remember, I got the Nitto Dura Grapplers which are highway tires and I keep them aired up to 75psi all the time. .. And no, I have not and will not consider going back to the stock 265s....
My minder pulls down 3/4 at WOT with a Fleetguard and smokes like a tarheel at light to medium acceleration.
Put a K&N cone in and the minder doesn't move and it doesn't smoke near as bad as it did. Only smokes after long time slow, then moderate petal.
I'm hoping the K&N is doing it's job. Need to check my grease spot I put in the tube.

Did they change the air box any on the 6.7's?
With the small hole feeding air into the stock box mine would suck the filter down 1/2 way with a new filter. I ran the swiss cheese for a year, then modified it to a cold intake type system by fovering the swiss cheese and installing a 4" HDPE pipe ffrom the bottom of the box to about 1/2" below the inner fender.
Each mod stopped the filter minder from moving until the filter was actually dirty. No water or wet filter issues, the only reason I changed was from the article that shows the HP decrease from sucking warm enging compartment air vs outside air.
