Info about 2010 Dodge Chassis & Cab trucks
From pickuptruck.com,
The 4500/5500 Cummins' exhaust line traps and burns off soot like the Ram 2500/3500 Heavy Duty pickups, but the diesel particulate filter is mounted underneath the cab in the Class 4/5 trucks instead of under the bed in the HD Rams. And while the 2500/3500 HD pickups meet 2010 emissions standards for Nitrogen Oxide (NOX) today, using Cummins' near maintenance-free Adsorber catalyst, the 4500/3500 trucks will rely on urea selective catalytic reduction (SCR) to scrub NOX molecules. The urea tank will be mounted on the chassis by 2010 and will require periodic refills.
Looks like urea is going to happen. Now I'm REALY glad that the pickup trucks already meet the 2010 emission laws.
I also wonder if this means that Ford and Chevy will have to have a urea tank on there trucks since they don't meet the 2010 laws?

They are classified under different categories for emissions requirements. This is also why the current C&C trucks don't have the same engine programming and emissions equipment as the regular trucks. They have to meet different emissions standards.
Does anybody know the power ratings of the 4500/5500, I don't want to assume they are the same as the 3500 auto because the 6sp man has less torque for what ever reason, I wonder if the power will increase at all between the 4500 to the 5500.
305/610 for both trannys, Good writeup here http://www.dodge.com/en/2008/chassis...ummins_diesel/
there is a lot going on with the Emissions..
We have a fleet of Freightliner FL60's with 5.9's in them.. We are required (because it is a fleet) to retrofit in particulate filters in all the trucks.. It looks like we will be using an aftermarket PF that needs to be plugged into 110V every night to clean it...
Because of this our older fords with 12V 5.9's will be retired and we will only keep the 2003 and up Freightliners...
I really find it hard to believe that they are going retroactive with this on fleets... Hope they don't try and do it to the pick-ups....!!!!!

I hope the Urea thing did not blind side you because that has been talked about for the last five years and everyone knew it was going to have to happen sometime with tightening emissions.
