How long can I idle my 09 6.7l befor I have troubles. Like to let it run while I sleep a few hours when I'm on the road in the cold. Any ideas ?

My ford 6.0 would go all night, I miss that.

 

Your 6.0 would run that long???

Bump the high idle and take a snooze if you need to have it run. Otherwise shut it down. You can thank the EPA for that..

 

Yup, it would run for hours till the head bolts grew !

 

Ive idled mine for hours on end, no worries, cept the fuel economy for some strange reason goes to heck. Must have some forward component of that calculation..

Now mine is EPA dis-approved. But I have seen guys with stock units idle the same as mine with no trouble.

 

Prior to the Surgery on mine I ran it overnight several times while I slept in the cozy almost queen sized bed in MEGA Mega. No problemo...I ran it at high idle for every stop that was more then 10 min and used the brake too.

The dealer can enable it for you.


OR... You can get a Smarty!


If you have a 68re, the Smarty can. If you have a G56 you have to go through a bit more and install a bypass.
