Does anybody elses truck clunk real loud when you take it out of drive? Mine does and it irritates the heck out of me. It doesn't do it coming out of reverse and I expect it's because they lowered the rpms in reverse.

Mine does it too. It bothered me at first, but after almost a year I don't even notice it anymore. Almost took it in when I first got the truck after trading my 2004.5 CTD w/48RFE. I seems normal now and doesn't bother me anymore.

Yep mine does it. It seems like there is alot of pressure there even at idle. Right after I got my truck I got stopped for rolling through a stoplight. In my old 99 you would throw it in nuetral barely put gon the gas and it would stop. This new auto wanted to push me through every stop sign and light. Only good thing about getting stopped was that Sherrif was smokin hot and really cool

Well, it can't be good for the trans so unless I have to backup I started turning the truck off before taking it out of drive. Works like a charm...

..........or throw it in neutral the last few feet while you're coasting.

I've tried shifting into neutral but only after stopping. That does not help any. I haven't tried it while rolling. Good idea though....

Depending on vehicle speed, it'll minimize it or eliminate it altogether.

You HAVE to be joking.

Our Duramax always clunked like that when coming out of gear, wither to park, or neutral, and also from park to any gear.

It's not a big deal. Most all electronic trannies with shift packs do this. It won't hurt anything. It's just different. It will be fine so you shouldn't need to worry about it.

Shifts too hard....shifts sloppy....bangs putting it in gear.... Maybe they'll design a great big CVT trans so that you'll never feel anything!:P

Other than the clunk coming out of gear this trans is awesome. It does none of the things you mentioned J Body.

the clunk is a tranny lock.....its stronger than a park poll and holds the truck better....the duramax's have had it for a while.....
