Smile I could use some advise

I have a 2008 6.7
I have 7500 miles on it and zero problems.

I changed the oil and filter at 3000 miles and I reset the alarm for a needed oil change.

At 7000 miles I changed the oil and filter again.

At 7500 miles the engine light came on and the overhead system said I need to change the oil, so I reset the alarm turn key on pump fuel pedal 3 times and turn key off.

It reset and the overhead says system ok

Thing is on the dash board the engine light stays lit, the truck runs great no issues.

Like i said the overhead says system ok, should I ignor the engine light
or should I take it to the dealer or is there a way to clear the enging light.

Any advise is appreciated I just hate going back to the dealer when there doesn't appear to be a problem just the light stays on.

Thanks
Emil

If the check engine light is on, there will be a trouble code in the ECM, for a failure that may or may not be noticeable. It's on warranty so you may as well get it diagnosed and repaired for free.

My guess is the engine light is NOT related to the oil change. Most likely it is a turbo or emissions problem. Take it in.

When I was having issues I got the CEL several times without having any codes show up with the key trick.
I would also guess that this is the beginning of soot issues for you. Good luck. There may be a new turbo in your future...
