could use some advise on this

ok, just drove from slidell la. to phoenix this week,, stopped for fuel in west texas and noticed wetness under passenger wheel well,, got on this site and found that it is the front differential overflow,or vent pushing out gear oil.. it is a 99 2500 4x4, stock,, so i checked all the posts and unhooked the tube, its clear,, so is the little plastic check valve, so my question is ,what is the problem with this beautiful beast.... rearend fluid is ok,,,,,could use some advise,, thanks

I know is cold here but were you running your AC/defrost? On my 02 even the vent feet position will cycle the ac compressor and it drains right next to the front pass tire. Was it water or fluid, was it slick like oil or water.

Just ideas.

Good luck.

i think its the vent just doing its job.....good thing to have it come out there and not the seals....oil expands as it heats. the gear oil in my mower transmissions triple in volume as it heats and aerates. switching to synthetic should help.

Well, I'm sure he means "differential oil".

The beather hose for the front axle usually runs up to the right innerfender, just under the air box. It's either the checkvalve on the end of said hose is not funtioning properly. Or maybe it is just condensation dumping out of your AC and then mixing with exsisting oils on the innerfender.
