how many 5.9 have done this?

So i am driving down the road in my hot shot truck and the check engine light comes on and I loose power. I figure well clogged fuel filter no biggie I put up to the stop sign and it just dies and will not start back. I open the hood and crank it over and diesel is spraying everywhere. come to find out the very back fuel line on the drivers side has broken off. so im thinking what the heck. so i go to the dealer and get a new one and they said at the dealer that this is a common occurance and that it is a design flaw with the bracket vibrating loose on that line. when I put the new line on it fired right up without any hesitation. my question is- is this really a common occurance has anyone else experienced this and if not it would be something to watch out for. truck has 140,000 miles and has a trailer on it everyday.

I had the same thing happen to me on my 05 and my wife uncle 05 truck. Both of ours did it about 40000. When mine did it I thought it was werid then his did the same about a year later so figure alot more people are having the same problem. Now on my 07 I check it about every oil change to make sure they sure the bracket stays tight.

Sounds like the making of a safety recall is in order. That could be pretty dangerous given the right conditions.

Yup!! Had the same thing happen on my 04.5, cyl.#6 feed line broke. Of course mine broke about 3:am on a weekend. When I got the replacement shipped from Cummins, no dodge dealer had the line in stock, they said they were aware of the problem and had modified the bracket for that line. Can't remember what mileage it happened at.

same thing here on the no 3 injector at 35,000 miles. inspect your lines for any shinny spots where the line clamp is moving and polishing the line. my dealer told me they have never seen that before Ha Ha took four days to get a line.

PS they will hold with a silver solder weld to get you home, a mobile welder bailed me out!!!

I wish i could help you guys out with a pic, the only thing I thought of taking a pic of was the fuel at 4.50 a gallon all over the ground,

just do yourself a favor and carefully inspect all injector lines and clamps for tightness

This has been happening for a long time.Since 03.Several years this has been posted on these sites.Suppose to be a line holder for number 6 injector line available. The early trucks do not have one.Mine dosen't .Eaither was a parts membo or a TSB.Are 06 and 07 5.9s missing the brace for number 6 line also?

Sorry no pic but, when I had mine repaired at a Cummins shop, they told me that Cummins was aware of the problem and the replacement bracket had already been modified to prevent the problem.
I would think that the 05's would have included the upgraded bracket and from 05 up there shouldn't be a problem.
