High Idle Equipment?
for the manual trans trucks, you'll need a ecm pin that comes with a 6" pigtail. you gotta ground pin 22 on the ecm harness, ground it directly to the ecm mounting bolts. pin from cummins was $7.
then have it enabled, or buy a programmer that does it.
mine works great. took 10 minutes to install the pin.
at least this is how the nv5600 folks do it.

I told my dealer that I insisted I have the idle up feature installed as a condition to me purchase a week and a half ago. The service advisor informed me that under no certain terms should I have that feature enabled.
He said the ecm knows when to call for the high idle and it's stictly for cold weather. He proceeded to tell me that if I had it installed that it would be throwing that lighening bolt light on my dash and it would have nothing but problems with the truck. Told me that the STAR techs told them NOT to do this feature anymore.
For what it's worth....

Dodge told me a month ago when I traded in my 6.7 that you can not leave the truck idling for longer than 15 min with out having the high idle engaged.
They also informed me that b/c I did not have the high idle engaged that is what was causing all of the problems.

Sevice guy told me as I'm sure yall have read about warranty saying to much idling time. When they enabled mine he said computer only registers idling at 1100 rpms or less. So I use mine all the time. May cost alittle fuel but better than buying a dpf, or arguing for days about whose going to pay if something does happen. just my.02
Not according to them...Tell me more, because I explained to the service manager that the idle up feature that I was referring to had to do with the idle time problem. He talked like there wasn't such a thing and that it was to do with cold weather.
It looks like it's something that I need more information on, so I can go back and explain to them what i'm asking for...

read the whole mess, and on page 2 there are 2 links to the install, that was written by another member, whose write up is much better than mine.
btw, your service manager is an idiot.

In the 2007.5 6.7l owners manual, not sure of the page it describes the high idle feature and exactly how it is operated. It also states that it must be enabled by the dealer. So I don't know what the problem is when people are taking their trucks in to have this feature enabled. Just pull your manual out and tell the brain surgeon that this is the feature you want enabled and be done with it. Sometimes I wonder how people land the positions they have at the dealerships.

This is exactly what I did. I pulled out the manual and turned to the page, and said there! This is what I want. Thats when I got the whole
story....Like I say, I'm new to the 6.7 scene as most of you are and so far everything I know thus far has been read on this forum. I guess I'll sit back and read and learn.
My thoughts were that STAR doesnt want the truck idling, so they/re advising against it.

Called my Service Manager at Cornett Chrysler in Irvine, KY today regarding the manual high idle......he said bring it on down !
He got it enabled.......all that's required is truck in park, turn the cruise control on, and hit the SET button......voila, shoots up from 700 rpm to 1,100 rpm. From there, simply tap the resume/accel button and it increases it in what appears to be 50 rpm increments, all the way up to a max of 1,500 rpm. Use of the decel feature reduces it in 50 rpm increments.
Manual high idle, in combination with the exhaust brake, should make for some quick warm-up times this winter, even though I'll have mine plugged up alot as kwh's are cheaper than #2.

you don't need any extra parts to enable the high idle on a manual trans!! i did mine and have posted how to do it before (on other forums). you need to have the dealer enable it, just like on the auto trans. the only other step is to ground the one wire. the wire is located on the firewall. driver side, far left bottom firewall. basically if you go staight back from the emergency brake handle to the firewall, you'll see a large wire harness, white in color. you can unhook that harness, and behind it there is a very short (4 inches maybe) dark green wire coming through the firewall. the wire has a heatshrink cap on the end. strip the end of the wire and ground it to one of the two bolts next to the harness. that's it! let me know if you need more info. you'll need your flashlight to see that little wire back there. that's it folks no money on any parts. that wire is for the optional clutch safety switch. it is really not needed, as the transmission has to be in neutral and the emergency brake set, in order for the high idle to activate. if you touch the brake pedal, release the emergency brake or put it in gear, the high idle will disengage.
