Well, I can tell you this, diesel will be here LONG after gas goes bye-bye. Just think: Bio, Vegetable oil, algae, etc....

Look at the dragster's being put together that run diesel....OL Skool!!! Mecanical injection, PPump 12 valve with a couple 24 valve (non CR) out there also. To think that teh 12 valve has not been made for 10+ years, and is still being dropped in dragster's and such. Some guys have even swapped out their 24 valve for 12 valve motor's. Diesel's are becoming more common place, and will continue to do so. Very soon you will see the CR CTD over take the mech. inj in terms of teh diesel to have. It took a LONG time for people to grasp the idea that fuel injection would supersede carb's, but eventually it did. It is inevitable.

But, I am also taking an educated guess

If I had the means I wouldn't even consider buying a 6.7 for at least a couple more year models... 09 maybe?? Way too many bugs and issues and the fuel economy would kill me! wait for the kinks to work themselves out and rack up some miles on the 5.9.

After market will not be leaving the 5.9 for a long long time IMO

The aftermarket can leave me behind if it wants too. So what? Parts will always be available and I already have a Smarty.

There is no way I'm getting rid of my '04! It's simple, efficient and powerful design is definately the right one for me. And it just keeps getting better. Soon the Dynatrac kit will be on and one day maybe an Aisin or 68 will go in. Meanwhile it just keeps on haulin' with that great locomotive roar.

If someone is bored and they just have to get a new truck, fine. But they'll get tired of the problems and economy of a new one even faster. Why not just keep improving the '03?
