Got my 07.5 on Saturday

Well, I finally got another truck after having to sell my 03 a few years back. I bought a 2007.5 2500 quad cab 4x4 from a local dealer with 68,000 miles. I have to admit I was not crazy about buying a auto but so far I am very impressed with the 6 speed auto with this 6.7l motor. I cant wait to drive it for a few thousand miles and then make the crap under the hood fall off. I was told that a 5.9l straight pipe turbo back 5" exhaust will fit my truck. Will I still need the delete pipe if I buy this type of exhaust, and will I still keep the exhaust brake?
It sure is great to be the owner of another cummins. I will just have to keep reading and learning like a rookie about this motor.
Thanks

The 6 speed auto trans is the **** for sure! Yes, the 5.9L system will fit and you will keep the exhaust brake because it is a part of the variable geometry turbo. Congratulations on an awesome truck.

Thanks. Do I have to do a complete delete to install the exhaust right now? I know I will need a smarty to keep from getting any codes. I am also going to install gauges first. I usually try to search for answers like this but this site has grown so much since I really used it last and there is so much information now its kind of time consuming.
Thanks for the help-

I just used a delete pipe to replace the NOX/DPF filters. Then there is some under the hood stuff and the programmer to accommodate all this. You can go with the S version of the smarty and keep everything until you delete, but then you need to download the ME version to the Smarty and truck...

Thanks- So will any 03+ turbo back exhaust fit? When I put the exhaust on do I also unpulg or remove all the underhood crap at the same time? Thanks so much for the help.

I'm not 100% sure on the exhaust but I think I heard that it is 04.5 on that fits. Yes, when you do the exhaust you just unplug a few things under the hood and remove the plunger on the EGR. The instructions that come with the Smarty are pretty clear and thorough. S version is used with stock emmisions. The ME version is for the deletes.
