G30 Recall & MPG
Don't know how to make a Poll, but I was wondering how many people have had the MPG go up, down, or stay the same after the recall.
I took mine in today for the recall along with some other things. I even put on the list "bad MPG"..., I've heard that it gets worse after the recall? Your inputs and real world data/analysis/opinions are very helpful.

Keep in mind that any observations done this time of year may be skewed by the use of "winterized" fuel. Diesels will typically get 1-2 mpg less using the winter blend, so that could easily be incorrectly attributed to the recall/flash.

I couldn't tell any difference after the recall. I've been hand calculating every tank when I fill up. Always in the 18.5 range but my truck is always empty and very little stop & go driving.

I would have to say mine has gone up a bit. My second tank (pre-flash) was the worst at 13.9 and my best has been 15.9 on my second to last tank. And that's with increased traffic from the snowbirds showing up here and clogging up the highways. Due to the variables in traffic, it's really hard to tell sometimes. All of my figures are hand calculated.
Additionally, the overhead display is consistently 2 mpg higher than what I actually hand calculate.

I had the reflash done about a week ago. I believe there has been a slight performance gain and the overhead indicates at least a 1/2 mile per gallon increase. However, my CEL is constantly coming on, but that was happening before the reflash, anyway. The truck does run well....

No "felt" power gain & no better fuel mileage. However, I did notice that my rear quarter panel doesn't soot up as quickly. Still pushing alot of soot out of the tailpipe under power though. 88k miles on the clock & my buddy the CEL is back, he keeps me up during the wee hours of the morning with his beady little yellow profile glaring at me from the dash - no codes via the key trick.

Thanks everyone so far for your experiences. Mine's still in the shop and bad MPG is all ready on my list.
Lue4141, please let us know how that goes with them and if there is anything that makes sense or can be done there.
Mine is in for wind noise at the doors, G30 recall, bad MPG, trackbar/shock noise over bumps, and the air doesn't blow well at all (megacab?) in the ventilation system. I think they'll be tearing pretty deep into various areas of the truck and am real apprehensive about that...

For those of you that have gotten the recall done late enough that they are flashing you with the AV SW, are you noticing any difference in the way the 6 spd auto performs/shifts? The AV flash was supposed to be primarily to change downshifting of the auto to minimize lugging in the higher gears, maybe a few other things.
Any auto drivers see any difference in how the tranny is working?

Yeah, if I'm going down hill, with a 45 m.p.h. tail wind, pulling 15k pounds!! Sometimes when I do that it will even read 20 AVG. M.P.G, for five seconds. Then when I level off, it goes back to the normal reading of about 9.5 AVG. M.P.G. towing or if I'm empty - 15.5 AVG. M.P.G.
