is anyone else getting crappy fuel milege on their 08 6.7 s

 

I didn't buy mine for the mileage, I wanted the power

 

Don't know about the 08's but if you're coming from a pre-air pollution equipped diesel to an air pollution equipped diesel you're just gonna have to lower your expectations on the fuel mileage. I have 122k on the clock and the fuel mileage has remained pretty much the same since new. The older diesels used to get better with age. I guess those days are gone and soon to be forgotten as we head into the GREEN future.

 

My monitor on my 6.7 has steadily gone up to about 16mpg. I am in the process of doing a real world check. My 95 CTD with about 235k miles get about 21mpg!

 

Yeah, my 04.5 started to get really decent fuel mileage when it got over 100k. It only had a kitty CAT for air pollution control. By the time it hit 200k I was gettin' over 20 m.p.g. too. I don't think we'll see that kind of efficiency out of the 07.5 & up trucks until we get some better technology than what we have at present. The poor Cummins is just plain choked with the current EGR & DPF system. AND don't forget, Dodge learned how to mess with our minds with the overheads once they learned how to integrate better "overhead" fuel mileage into the flashes we all go in for!!

 

I haven't done a real-world check yet, but my overhead shows 14+ Ctiy and between 18.5 and 23 highway, depending on speed and conditions.

 

I get abt the same 13.5 city and 18.5 Hwy

It was a lot of work sourcing out things and getting it all together, but wasn't too tough. I used the 1.9 TD, which I had to get from Canada since it wasn't sold in the States. If I had it to do over again, I would probably use the 1.6TD, just because parts are readily availble here for it. I mated it to a Toyota 5-speed and dual t-cases. With intercooler and some screw driver work, my horsepower is now triple and the torque four times what the stock Sami had. The mileage is double

 

I have been getting 12 towing and 14 empty. I knew mileage would be bad with all of the emmission stuff when I bought it though.

 

I am getting 15.5ish city and 18.5ish highway.

 

15.5-16 empty mixed driving, 17.1 hwy all empty...on a megacab 4x4. The light 2x4 standard cab should get better mpg.

 

I was on the highway today and did some experimenting. My best mileage was at exactly 65 mph. I got a solid 20mpg+ at that speed. If I went down to 60mph the mileage dropped and if I went to 70+ it dropped even more. I was very happy to see 20 though. I am only getting about 13.5 - 14mpg city but I only have 2000 miles on the truck so far....

 

Same here as Dodgezilla, exactly to a tee, could have not written it better. I really don't care about mileage,don't get me wrong I like good mileage but it really don't care when I am within 700 miles of home because my supply is endless for now, and the fuel is free, all I need is my vac truck, I love tank upgrades. To bad they won't let me use it on Gov jobs for my hvy equipment because that help my bottom line, if of course its not a T&M Project.
