Fuel Filter change
Fuel Filter change
OK, so for the 5th fuel filter change I thought I would try something different rather than taking the wheel & fender well off to change the filter. After opening the drain tube (ha ha) and then loosening the filter about 2 turns to actually get the filter to drain, I went in the engine compartment from the top. There is a big junction box with cables going in & out on the driver's side. It has 2 squeeze clips, 1 on the bottom & 1 on the top. I removed the box from it's bracket and saw a little "daylight" that might be enough to allow me to get at the filter, take it off and then fish it up thru the opening in the bracket. Yup, it worked and I even managed to get the new filter on from above, however I looked like I was in a knife fight without a knife as my right arm got tore up from all the junk I had to reach around to get at it.
This way was definitely less time consuming and less crap to R&R to complete the job but a bit more bloodier!!

good idea.
The Dodge service tech said they are replacing the fuel filter from below. Is this possible only when lifting the truck in the service bay? The tech acted like it was no problem. Without the lift it looks too far up. Not sure this technique can be done from home.

Had mine done yesterday when they put the new turbo on. The tech pulled the fender liner off and bam had it changed in a few seconds. New turbo is doing fine. No cel light for the first time in many miles.
I have almost 66,000 miles on my 07 and have changed the fuel
filter everytime i've changed the oil,,, about every 5-7K miles and
have always changed the fuel filter from below. I run the front
end up on ramps, crawl under and have it changed with very little
hassle in about ten minutes and most of that time is waiting for the
fuel to drain out of the old filter. I wouldn't even think of removing the
tire and inner fender.
To me it is more of a hassle to change the oil filter,, also from below.
