Thumbs up Free (or nearly so ) mileage Bombs for 6.7 ?

Just got a real deal on a 08 QC, so traded in my 06. I'm on my 5th Dodge Cummins, ('95,02, 04.5, 06, & now '08) So I'm familiar with mods on the cheap for increased mileage.
What free mods are applicable to the new 08 trucks ? In the past I've done others such as : the swiss cheese air box, intake tube baffle delete, tone ring mod, high flow muffler (donaldson instead of stock) etc.
How about a thread of your low or no cost mods that get us Dodge owners some better mileage numbers !
Bring 'em on please !!!!!

5.9 drop in air filters will fit the 6.7 airbox. 5.9 systems will too but there is an additional sensor in the 6.7 tube up top and I think an additional hose at the bottom. You can also swiss cheese the bottom of the factory airbox. EGR unplug is awesome but really we don't know the real long term effects it will have but most see an increase of around 3-4 mpg. Lots of us don't see much increase while towing which seems kind of strange but I haven't done a lot of towing yet so my results are really not trustworthy.
Muffler deletes are worthless because there is so much crap in front of the muffler that you will get no sound or performance increase.....

Yes you will get a CEL and one or two EGR codes if you unplug it. Honestly, after a few days you don't even notice the ding or the light anymore.....

Why change out the filter? the 6.7 filter is 900cfm.

I could easily pull the filter minder 1/2 way down with the stock filter. With my AFE drop-in the minder never moves. Plus you can hear the turbo if you swap it out...

Blocker plates

When you install the blocker plates, and do not unplug the EGR; do you still get the CEL and hard codes?

yes. if you install the blocker plates and remove the butterfly the EGR MUST be left unplugged, otherwise you go into limp mode and can only be brought out of it by taking it to the dealer.

any idea why that would make it go into limp mode?
could you put in the block off plates and leave the butterfly value in place??
thanks

With the older flashes, you couldn't. Unplugging the EGR would close the butterfly so it had to be removed when deleting the EGR otherwise your truck wouldn't get any air (closed off fresh air and a non-functioning EGR = a suffocating truck). With these newer flashes that have the EGR acting differently, i don't know. It seems each one of these trucks has a completely different set of programming. Every time it seems someone has figured out a bit of this engine/ecm/emissions equipment, 100 more questions arise from that one answer.
