electrical problem

07 quad cab cab chassis
Overhead console says LR and RR turn lamps are out.
Only does this when head lights are on or when brake is applied same time as turn signal. Then it chimes rapidly and acts funny. If I use turns signal without headlights or pushing brake then everything is fine.
PLEASE HELP - THANK YOU

How many miles? Done this since new? There is a setting that they can turn on at the dealer for cab/chassis models. Also double check the wiring. Could be corroded already! I've seen some real hack jobs!

Sounds like maybe a ground issue. It can run 1 of the filaments, just not both. I'd start looking at the connections for the flatbed lights. That and you may actually try changeing the bulbs. I have seen some wierd things when one filament drops and touches the other one.

I also just noticed than when headlights are turned off and I touch the brake light that a small glow comes from the driver side front turn signal light. I did have one bulb go out on the utility bed (driver side - side marker light) a day or two after problem started. I changed bulb but still have problem. I am new to this forum but I appreciate all the info you guys and gals have.

it sounds like you have a bulb with a partially broken filament, that is resting on another filament, and causing a short.

Something worth checking. Check both tail lights, the stop/marker portion.

I have also seen this happen with a bad headlight switch, and with a bad multifunction switch, but go with the simple stuff first.

Usually the flatbed comapnies just use the trailer wiring, so that could be a possibiliy, but it seems as though you are getting power there, just a ground issue, from what you were describing. I'd still bet on a wiring issue, whether it be corrosion or a poor connection somewhere.

So I checked all the bulbs and everything is OK. I guess I will start with the wiring under the bed. If anyone has a suggestion or idea let me know.

Still open to ideas. The installer of the flat bed has decided to look at it tomorrow. I'll keep you posted. It is a J&I flat bed.

If you are getting feedback to other lights it is probably a ground. I would check the ground connections on the flat bed, or maybe the bed to the frame may not be getting good ground.

Took it to the installer of the flat bed today and they said its not their problem. They looked at it for 5 minutes at most. They say it is a Dodge problem. I am off to the dealership again. And let me tell you how helpful they are! (ha ha ha) I will be out of town for a week but I will post when I get back what I find out. $10 says they say it is the flat bed. All hell I may as well just figure the **** thing out myself! time to break out the volt meter!

Sounds like a ground to me as well. That is what will happen when it back feeds through another lamp, it will just glow. Check the bed to frame grounds and make sure they are good or just run a jumper wire from the bed to the frame and try that. If no luck, then run the jumper from the frame to the ground of the lamp in question. That will eliminate the grounding question!

Any one else have any ideas? I'm checking the ground idea out. Is that something that the bed installer should fix?
