DW @ 164k miles

Experienced the DW 3 times on the last trip - 2 times empty and 1 time towing a 14k lb. 5'ver. Each time it happened I had just gone over an expansion joint on a bridge at about 70 m.p.h. Stock suspension with Bilsteins all around except for the RideRite air bags. 2nd set tires are getting close to being replaced - 84k miles on this set. Maybe they're just getting tired?? Or maybe something is wearing out on the front end. Of course this has to happen when I'm busy with work scheduled thru to the end of the month. I'm going to check out the front-end this weekend.
Man that's scarey when it happens. Happened on the 04.5 but not until I had over 200k on that truck. Replaced the shocks, ball joints and a tie-rod end which seemed to cure the DW on that truck.

Always start with the FIRST thing to hit the payment and work your way up.

i had a similar problem with my '04 3500, 4x4 it turned out to be the stabilizer shock on the front end. I was towing a 14,000 lb trialer, almost lost control of the truck when i hit a NM farm road pothole. my front tires were wearing very unevenly and i couldn't figure out why. the alignment was good. then I hit the pothole. replace the shock and no more problems.

Sorry, forgot to mention that I just replaced the steering stabilizer about a month ago. Would seem to eliminate that, although I know you can get a bad "new" part these days too. I'm sure it's going to be something a bit more expensive cause that's just what I need right NOW. I have 1 more trip to make before the weekend and then I'm going to check the ball joints & tie-rod ends. Not real comfortable driving it the way it is but right now I only have enough home time to shower, eat and get a little sleep before taking off. Gotta make the money while it's there - feast or famine ya know.

I never had a problem with ball joints wearing out until this truck. Even though I did not feel or hear anything unusual, my last safety we found both sides to be in REAL bad shape...that was at 78K. No DW effect though. I run the Bilsteins and ride rites too.
