Anybody have one yet and what are your impressions so far. Ride , power and towing charecteristics. Looking to buy one around Jan-Mar. Probably a single cab and put a 12' bed on it.

I bet only because of the gear difference. You can do that with a 3500 ram.

Let me clarify one thing on the ratings.... the GVWR for the 4500 is 16,500. the GVWR for the 5500 is 19,500... the GCWR for both is 26,000. The 3500C&C is rated at 23,000(Cummins) and 17,000(Hemi) for GCWR and 10,200(GVWR) for single wheel and 12,500 for dual-wheel.

The 4500 and 5500 have different axles than the 3500... they come with a Dana S110 rear... these trucks could easily be rated for a GCWR of 30,000+

I believe they are rated at 26,000 because of licensing issues in some states.... in Kansas, if the manufacturer rates a vehicle at 26,001(GCWR) and you're pulling a trailer rated at 10,000(GVWR) you have to have a Class B CDL. I know this doesn't satisfy all folks but I think it's the reality of the situation... IMO, Dodge playing a little bit of big brother.

that vehicle doesn't exist anywhere....

the 6.7L Cummins is the only engine available in the 4500/5500....

Thats really true, the limiting factor is actually the transmission. Its just like the 4500/5500 chevy's , Allison also recommends a max gcwr of 26k. If the oem rates it higher then the would likely have a conflict and it could cause warranty issues or something. Now since we all see the Hot Shot guys running 34k gcw with 3500's the 4500 and 5500 should also have no issues too...
