I like the front fender flares.

I wonder if the front and rear suspension and drivetrain are beefier than the 3500 C&C

Pity about the HP, they will need to increase it if they want to build a market image over Ferd.

True about the HP, however, in commercial applications, a 45HP difference may not be what it's all about especaiily if you look at TQ curves, and durability, the long run it will pay off. (I see alot of tow truck companies switching over..)

The primary competition for these trucks is likely to be the Fords; the 2008 Super Duty pickups will include a 6.4 liter International Truck engine company with twin sequential turbochargers, rated at 350 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, more than the Ram, with piezo fuel injectors and three valves per cylinder. The prior six-liter Ford diesel had developed a poor reputation.
In teh article itself, it states,,

Maintaining its reign at the top of the heavy-duty diesel pickup segment, the standard Cummins engine generates 305 horsepower at 3,000 rpm and 610 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,600 rpm. The engine also delivers superior fuel economy while ensuring durability and low cost of ownership for the commercial customer. Though it won’t be the most powerful engine, it may have the best reputation for reliability and durability.

Four cab-axle lengths (60, 84, 108 and 120 inches) are available. Maximum Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) for 4500 models is 16,500. For 5500 models, the maximum GVWR is 19,500 lbs. The Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) for both 4500 and 5500 models is 26,000 lbs.

The cabs you see are the cabs you get... IMO, the Sterling is simply going to be rebadged with some minor styling changes.

I will be gald when some of you get your truck companies started. What is the excact lenght of a "real" crew cab? Ford has many many frame combos and they are near bankrupcy.
Dodge has been in the medium duty bussiness for less than 24 hrs and many have condemed them for not making their dream truck.
With the channel frame, just go to a truck builder and have it stretched. They cab will be inpractical to change though.

The 26K number is to avoid the CDL requiment.

My are we spoiled with torque and HP numbers. If they use a 4.88:1 or a 5.13:1 or some such rear end this thing will be a pulling Mother. It has only been a few years ago that the over the road trucks had HP and torque numbers like these. That was pulling much more weight than these are designed to pull. The next cry will be for a 2.83:1 or a 3.14:1 rear end to help with mileage.

i want a 5500 flat bedmega cab 120" frame with an all leather and suede interior and a 13 speed automatic transmission so i can tow my 15k RV unit and load up the bed with food and other such items!

these trucks are for work .. theyre designed for heavy duty jobs like plowing snow and hauling dirt and debris. Guess what, a full crew cab, leather interior, eaton-fuller trans, etc. its just not necessary. Back in the 60's, stock engine on a Dodge 1 ton was the Slant 6. 100 hp. something to think about.

Looks like FlashDancr moved to quick on her latest truck purchase!!

But hey, DC should have come out with this or something similar a few years ago anyway.

Ram 4500/5500. I dont know about any of you guys, but I have this funny feeling of another monthly payment starting in 2008. I also see another payment for a welder, autocrane, and compressor, starting about the same time.
