Cummins Steps In

My buddy has an '08 2500 with 7700 mi. on it just had the shop tell him that that he has 3 bent valves after the truck started thumping and banging real bad in normal highway driving. Dealer informed him that the engine had a bent rod replace prior to his owning the truck ( truck had 7 miles on it). The head mechanic at the dealership talked to cummins and they told him don't fix the motor, send it to us we are sending you a new engine right now. Has anyone had anything like this trying to get him and my brother some info, my brother has same truck just a 6 speed manual instead of auto.

I don't think it was a bent rod, IT HAD TO BE A HORSESHOE....lucky guy!

Ive heard Cummins prefers a new engine over fixing, atleast on something that new. I think they want to tear it apart to see what happened and possibly help prevent it from happening again
