code 2262 not under warranty

Hey Guys

with the 6.7 I know some of you have gotten this code and the dealers have been cleaning the turbos of soot build up, but has it always been under warranty? I have a good friend with one that has 42K miles that recently pulled the code. The dealer is jerking his chain and saying that it is not a warranty deal and that they are going to charge him to do the work.

Just curious. He mentioned he was going to bring the truck to me to clean it, but if it is under warranty I would rather he save his money and let them do it.

That would be part of the engine right so I would think it would fall under the 100k warranty. You could also argue that it is an emissions component....which would have at least 80k.

Yesturday I was reading warranty booklet that come with my truck and if i remember correctly turbo and injectors fall under emission components warranty with said 50k 5 yrs. Have you friend check warranty book. Then stick in the face of a ******* dealer.

It should be warranted. Your friend is being jerked around.

This is exactly what causes anxiety with customers and would be something I would dread having to argue about since it is such an expensive and critical component.

Let us know your outcome!

They may be considering a cleaning as a maintenance procedure, and not covered, same as an oil change.

Didn't see turbo cleaning in maual as maintenance or alswhere. As it comes to me is not funcioning correctly and is under warranty.

Turbo cleaning is definitely a warranty item. I was told the cleaning doesn't really pay well, which might explain why so many sooted turbos are replaced.

Yes, it's covered. I just had mine done for the second time last week. I just turned over 30k miles. My service manager said it's covered until 100k.

it may be that the dealer is having trouble getting warranty money from Chrysler (government). on CBS news this morning, they said some dealers were dropping out of the "Cash for Clunkers" program because the government hasn't been coming thru with the money.

Well if I have to get my turbo cleaned all the time, I won't be keeping this truck forever like I had planned. That's ridiculous.

yea, i waited to long to buy my first dodge diesel. Man i had heard so much good about the cummins engine. then when i get one it has to be screwed up with all this emissions junk. like you, if this one keeps givin me trouble, there's going to be one cheap 08 dodge diesel (really, i think there is going to be a lot of them) wish i had bought the hemi.

I noticed where some of the guys mentioned that there was a TSB out for the issue??? Where they would do a manual desooting and then reflash the ecm? Does anyone know anything about the TSB or the number for it?

Fellas,

That why I say if possible, do the deletes. Makes for a completely different truck. No warranty, but, no worries.
