what was the outcome of your engine light ?

I'm at 7500 miles on mine and the engine light came on, codes told them it was carbon build up. They kept it two days supposedly driving it with a computer attached to make necessary adjustments. Dodge does not replenish the diesel used while their testing your vehicle by the way. They couldn't give me the exact cause of the problem, the diesel tech said idling the engine for any length of time causes these problems but he couldn't say for sure.

Has anyone ever installed an ECO Fuel System, "Emission Control Optimizer" ?
They say it will help the problem as well as help MPG.

Chrysler is supposed to reimburse you for the diesel they use. They are supposed to drive it, then fill it back up for you. If they say otherwise then they are wrong. And idling these engines for long periods of time does cause problems. You can enable an idle up feature that will help to complete combustion and help eliminate soot build-up.

My light just came on this morning. I don't notice any difference in power or performance but I called my dealer and they will look at it next Wednesday. They said if it's running good then it is ok to drive it until then.

When my light came I didnt notice anything w/ the performance. When I got back in the truck I notice the thermometer was off. That day the temp was around 100 deg. The truck was reading 79 degrees. On my way home the temp started to rise and the light went off.

Engine light also...

I have 4375 miles on mine, and this morning as I left the house the computer display said to change the oil. within 6 miles of driving, the engine was knocking realy bad and the idle was up and down. I got the truck to a Firestone store on Fort Bliss, and had them do the oil and filter change (It is Sunday and Dodge is closed). Went to take the truck home and it took about 10 minutes to work the new oil through the system and it starting to finally run normal...then the engine light came on with no codes...

Any ideas out there? I take it in to the dealer on Wed.

No idea about the knocking, but did you verify that the Firestone place used the correct oil? The truck requires CJ-rated low-ash oil. You'll definitely have problems down the road with the DPF if they used the wrong oil.

I have about 15K miles on mine and have taken it in to the dealer twice now for the check engine light. Both times they told me that it "threw a code" and they reset it. Not two days later, guess what, check engine light again. Now it appears that after sitting overnight, I can drive the truck to my first destination, no matter how far, and no light. But soon as I go again, the light comes back on. There has been no effect on the performance, that I can tell. I will take it back in again when I get the chance, but I am not holding my breath that they can fix it.

After several trips back to the dealer I realized all they were doing was resetting it and sending me on my way. If the engine light never went off I would be concerned but it might stay on for three days and then off for the next three days, the truck never runs any different whether it's on or off. I don't think they can fix it because it's a flawed system, there is no one part causing the problems. My mileage is a consistent 13 to 14 depending on conditions, I didn't do near enough research before I bought the truck or I would have waited to see what changes were being made to newer models.
But, it's what I wanted and I bought it and I'm sticking with it, it's got a lot of warranty left.
