cel came on
I've heard of this before that soot can build up in the Turbo. They also tell people to use there exhaust break all of the time to help keep the soot from building up so much in the Turbo.
the cleaning procedure to clean those turbos is simply retarded. Just their way of trying to salvage the turbo. The tools and instructions are not yet available to the mechanics whic is why he said nobody knows how to clean it. The procedure involves removing the turbo speed sensor, drilling and tapping a hole (while using a shop vac to attempt to remove the metal shavings) into the turbo housing, threading a connector on and running a solvent through it. Next time, look at the turbo and it's position on the engine. Now imagine trying to operate a drill and a vacuum in that tight spot. The odds of this working are pretty slim. What you need to do next time you get a 2262 DTC is to make ABSOLUTLY sure that the EGR cleaning procedure is being performed IN IT'S ENTIRETY. And also that the mechanic working on it is doing a forced regen to get the DPF and the rest of the system clean. This along with you driving the truck as informed in the DVD that you get will more than likely get rid of this problem.

seems my truck regen on the way home everyday when i get out i hear the exhaust popping and smell that plastic smell and dont know if it finish cuz 80% of my drive home is traffic and the last little is a straight shot home and thats only bout 3 miles and the speed limite is 35 mph though but no stop lights.
28,000 miles on the truck and I just got my first CEL. Dodge is putting a new turbo, egr, and 2 other parts on it. If it hadn't been for the CEL, I wouldn't have known anything was wrong with it. It runs pretty good and I can hear the turbo working. It has been blowing black smoke from about 1600 miles. The only indication I had that there was something wrong was that my already pitiful fuel mileage dropped even further. Towing a 3500# trailer at 69 MPH from Austin to Lubbock and back I couldn't get better than 10.5 MPG.
The service dept. told me that I will probably have to have another turbo installed when Cummins releases a revised turbo for the 6.7. The EGR and the Turbo seem to be the problem with poor fuel economy. Mine has gotten worse the more miles I put on it.
I had a trip to Myrtle Beach planned in June and just requested a refund on my campsite reservations. My calculations lead me to believe that the fuel bill round trip would be between $900-$1000. Doesn't leave much room to buy a t-shirt as a souvenir. I'll have to visit family another time, heading to Port Aransas instead...I can stay in a nice condo for 5 days and still come out cheaper.

You have black smoke coming out of the tailpipe? And your dealer hasn't said anything about that?? You need a new DPF. It is cracked, and there is a chance that you could have motor internal problems. If the dpf gets temperatures of 1500 degrees and then some, they have a tendency to crack. Take it back to the dealer and have them check that out.
Mine popped a CEL on Thursday night, took it in Friday morning. The drive to the dealer the light was on, turned off the truck and waited for a service rep. He turned the truck on and the light was off.

I had him pull the code and he said the turbo was dirty, lost power. I couldn't leave the truck for the weekend, and he said he'd have to order parts anyways. He said let him know if I see the CEL again and he'll order the parts.
I still can't get the turn the key trick to work for me to display the actual code. The service rep told me that trick wouldn't work on my truck. Is this true? I hate driving it to the dealer just to find out what code popped.

That is not true. I have been able to pull the code up on mine when I had a CEL after hitting a tire and rim on the freeway. I guess it knocked a sensor loose or something.
