I think that all the Dodges (new) are California emissions approved. Used to be a difference but think they atre all 50 state approved.

As I understand it in 03 and 04 the SO met CA emissions and the HO did not, then the 04.5 600 was a 50 state motor, and so is the new one.

As I understand it the 6.7 has to be smogged every year like a regular gas motor and a new 2007 5.9 does not same as before. Also the 2007 5.9 does not have these giant coffee can shaped collectors hanging down below the frame rails.

You will need a truck with CA certification if you want it new. CA looks for this sticker. All the trucks do NOT come with this. Usually, it is limited to states surrounding CA but you may be able to order elsewhere. There isn't any other real differences for 2007.

Did your NY truck get the CA certification sticker under the hood? I know there are some states that go with CA.

Every CTD truck built after 04. Is California/Federal legal. Before that California had stricter emmission laws than Federal and that's why there is Ca. CTD SO prior to 04.5. There were like seven states that followed California w/ strict emmissions. I believe NJ is one in the NY area. All new diesels w/ the smog stuff on will be made to get smoged every other year like the gassers in California. All CTD meet w/ California emmision since 04.5.

The vehicle may meet the CA regs but the DMV looks for the certification sticker. I have seen many posts where someone gets a new vehicle without the sticker and can't register. The CA DMV doesn't keep track of what new vehicles meet requirement, they just go by if it was certified or not.

I was just at the dealership today talking to them about ordering a 6.7 for me and that was my consern but to my understanding the 6.7 is a 50 state engine and there is no difference between a California 6.7 and a Oklahoma 6.7but i'll still be buying it in kansas to get a better deal from the dealer i have bought my last two 07's from.

along a similar line does anyone know what has to be done when you move to cali? i have herd that you have to get a certification sticker from somewhere (dodge maybe) before you can register. and is there anything else that has to be done? i will have my 6.7 and a 1997 taco when i get out there and would like to be ready to deal with it rather than be surprised.

From what I have read, your Tacoma should be fine but the Dodge will give you trouble with the CA certification sticker without having at least 7500 miles on it. Look at CA DMV or call.

50 state emission

I have a 2008 6.7L on order and it plainly states on the spec sheet
that it is "50 state emission compliant"........period.

Just bring money to the DMV, lots of it. Be prepared to pay CA tax on your out-of-state purchase also. For great bedtime reading go to http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d03/vc9252.htm and http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d03/vc4000_2.htm just to get you started.

I couldn't purchase a new '03 HO in CA, or buy one new elsewhere and bring it in. I could purchase one 6 months old (AKA Used) and bring it in with no issues, just takes money.
Oh, and GR, a spec sheet isn't what will be asked for in Kalifornia.

ok I'm half asleep but i do know that they do have different rules for people who already live in cali who want to bring in a vehicle verses someone who is just moving there. i did see something about new to state one year or less brought in to cali you pay a sales tax and after a year of ownership from any state no sales tax. i tried it on the CA DMV web site. less than a year for my truck almost 3 grand! more than a year about 300 bucks. i guess i will call them tomorow and see.
