Buying a used 07...6.7...Help?
I have an opportunity to buy a used 07. They have a couple for sale, with 12,000 to 35,000 miles on them....and the price just seems real good.
But, I have done some research...and will admit I am still quite green on the 6.7. So help me out.
Is there anything that should prevent me from pursuing one of these 07's?
If it is just a matter of getting rid of some emission stuff or adding some kind of electronics....and all will be good, regardless of codes that may be there, or may occur....please help me out.
'
What is the laundry list of stuff I should get, to turn a used 07 into a solid 6.7 runner?
Thanks

I've been debating the same thing as you...lots and lots of reading awaits you.
Here is what I found: H&S and BADP do delete kits. The downpipes need a bit of grinding to make them fit in the H&S kits. Codes are still there as no code-free box completed yet. I "hear" Edge Juice will clear codes at each startup.
I'm still 'scared' to take the plunge I think (at least tonight, I may change my mind tomorrow
I like the simplicity and lack of emissions of the 5.9...and may stick with that one for my next truck (used of course).
I drove both..and like them both. I just don't want the headaches or work of removing DPF/EGR systems right now since it is all still kind of new.

go for it. you'll love the 6.7. do the exhaust delete (BADP or H&S), egr delete and spring for the edge/attitude or bully dog pmt. both of those will clear the codes at startup. if you don't mind the cel and don't need extra power, then you can just live with the light. the codes codes thrown by the deletes are soft codes and won't affect the performance of the truck. when that stuff is off of these rigs, they are a different beast!
If you get a 6.7, Do the EGR deletes ASAP, to save your engine!
I removed the EGR system, by removing the butterfly in the intake, and capping off the EGR crossover pipe. Installed the BADP fooler boxes (3 of them for EGT‘s) and BADP’s 5” SS Magnaflow Exhaust, Turbo back.
The Turbo flange is a little smaller OD than the stock, but mounts up fine, and has no leaks.
The only issue I am having is, The red lightning bolt warning light? It seams to be causing a slight timing issue. Does anyone know about this????
My new Juice with Attitude should be in today.
The truck ran a lot better this weekend, and my over head mileage went from 16.5 to 19.8, with no open highway driving.

a. Best to make sure these weren't Lemon-lawed back to inventory and WHY are they back on the lot SO soon with such little mileage.
2. Is there anything that should prevent me from pursuing one of these 07's?
a. How ya gonna use the truck?? If it's a grocery-getter ya better plan on doing the "illegal" deletes. If the truck will be worked - go for it. In it's pure stock form it is a towing beast, minus a few m.p.g's versus the 5.9L. My truck has 172k miles on it and it still has all the air-pollution (blue-tec) equipment installed. There's a bit more maintenence and higher costs involved with the 6.7L as you must use the lower ash oil, ULSD fuel and the maintenance of the EGR @ 60k & 120k mile intervals. Plus you drive a 6.7L a little differently than a 5.9L - NO extended idling without using the fast-idle, making sure it completes a regen cycle if at all possible or driving for 45 minutes @ 60 m.p.h. to clean it out and prevent the CAT FULL message. However, the trade offs are having a factory installed exhaust brake, the power of the 6.7L matched to a GREAT towing tranny with the 6 spd auto. Plus I wouldn't use any fuel additives, been there done that, the 6.7L doesn't need them.

a. Already stated that I wouldn't mess with any of the EPA stuff and I have heard from the beginning with these 6.7L's that the block has "siamese" cylinders which means they have less water cooling ports around the cylinders so messing with the timing, over the long haul and I stress long term as most of the folks with the various electronics do not have high mileage vehicles, may cause catastrophic damage. Again, if you're not going to keep the truck that long - go for it and save your deletes to re-install when they start doing emissions testing for diesels, which will happen soon.
Mr Suzuki,
GO FOR IT!!! you will need. Dpf delete kit, Block the EGR and vent PCV to atmosphere. All very easy to do with minimal wrench turning experience. Also a Juice with Attitude monitor to clear codes on start up. My truck does NOT throw codes if I allow it to clear on start up so I Never have to look at a check engine light. AND it runs like crazy.
Down side. You will have to put it all back to stock for emission testind day, but can't tell you how worth it that will be. And if you save every thing it is just a couple of hours work for tons more fuel economy and power.
