Bully Dog Pup Opinions
I just bought a PowerPup and have the Performance tune installed.. I'm still on my first tank since i put it on.. I am rolling on 35x12.50 Toyo Open Country MT's but I have tweaked my gear settings with the star scan and set my tire size as 33"s with the PowerPup and now my speedo is dead on. I used a handheld GPS to make sure my speedo is correct. So, now that I will have a **** near perfectly true Odometer reading i will be able to hand calc my MPG for the very first time. lol... The overhead says i'm getting 15.5. I drive a 45 mile stretch of road to work and then again to get back home everyday... The thing about this stretch is that i go from 7200 feet up to 8600 feet and then down to 6200 feet when i get to work. Then i do it all over again, but 6200 to 8600 to 7200. l do all this at 80 MPH... so i figure if that 15 MPG is true.. i'll be pleased.
n0ne, how is the mileage on your truck with the new programmer? Can you adjust the odometer with the pup?
Looking to maybe put one in my truck, after the body work is finished. Deer can do a lot of damage.

well, i was able to get my Speedo correct. I have 35" Toyo Open Country M/T's and i used the starscan at the dealership to set my gear ratio as 3.55 when i actually have 3.73's.. I then used the PowerPup to tell the computer i have 33" tires. Which is the biggest programmable size allowed. This combination got my speedometer dead on. I tested that using a handheld GPS. As for fuel economy, i'm only getting about 13.5 MPG. But i also drive up and down in altitude each day. I drive 45 miles to work everyday at 80 MPH. Where i live it is 7200ft. I drive up to 8600 ft and then descend to 6200 where work is. Then on my way home i go from 6200 to 8600 and back down to 7200. This kind of kills fuel economy. If i were in flat lands like texas or northdakota and lower altitude, i figure id get a few MPG better.
I'm interested in the pup as a trailer pulling option only. Don't care about going fast. Just don't want to go slow. I usually pull my camper (29' Jayco bumper pull, app. 9k lbs.) in 6th gear. Set the cruise and go. Some of the longer grades around NW AR cause me to have to go to 5th. No big deal, would just rather not do it. Plus it should improve the mileage some as well. If someone made a programmer for trailer towing only, not all the super hi-performance stuff, that would probably be the one for me.
Anyway, thank you for the response. BTW, the truck is bone stock. No lift or anything. Take a look at my pics in the Ram vs. 8-point buck thread. It hurts to see my truck like that.

My pup will be here today. I live on the coast and it's nice and flat, so I will get a good MPG (with my GPS) and let you know. OK, now I know Marco! I'm kind of new to the Dodge scene...came over from PS so I wasn't sure what that was.
i will probably get the smarty too.. i just know that i'm not going with anything but the programmers this time.. No Edge or TST for me.. I want my warranty still.. But it is nice that i don't have to go to the dealership to get the new flashes. The PowerPup can be updated via the Bully Dog Update Manager and it loads all the new flashes. I had the new AU flash and didnt even know it.. lol. || Also, the PowerPup performance tune is not a huge performance gain, i noticed it a little bit.. the truck has a bit more get up and go, but not a whole ton more... nothing like when i hooked up my Edge Comp to my 1999 24v and threw it on 5x5. But, i bet you would notice it a ton more with the stock 265's.. Alot less weight and rubber to turn. And eventually they will have an Extreme 100HP or better tune for the 6.7's
I'm having problems with my new pup. It will not update because the update agent will not down load. I talked to bullydog and they said it was my windows vista and I should use xp. I just tried to down load on xp and the same problems exists. The pup will not load into the truck because it's not updated. Any suggestions? I now have a $439 paper weight! And I'm not too happy either.
Update: I just had emails from the bullydog president and sales manager. They are really concerned about the server problems and are working to get this update taken care of. That's nice to see...customer service!
Ive got the power pup an my 6.7 and the power is great. It gives you the option to regenerate when needed so you dont have to rely on the truck itself. The only downfall that i have seen is that with my 6 speed manual when the turbo spools it spools fast and slips the clutch no matter is you are going slow or running 70mph. I hope that problem will be fixed ive got a southbend dual disk on its way. but other than that it did improve my mileage by about 3
I hope something comes up quick!! This 11.5 around town has got to go! My 05 at 619hp would get 15-16 all day long around town and then to this! Love the truck but the milage sucks! I don't believe anyone who says they get 30mpg it just ain't going to happen!
