blown motor
update my dealer has another 07 5.9 with a blown motor and the tech said chrysler didnt ask any questions so they are aware there is a problem. by the way 5000 miles on this and all 6 cylinders
When I had my local dealer check a problem w/ my truck. The head deisel mechanic told me they do not have to get authorization from Chrysler anymore. Especially for ejectors. He said they are aware of USLD causing problems in the 5.9. He also said they will look away if you bring your truck in and obvious modded, but if you bring it in more than once for the same problem in the past (ejectors, transmissions, cylinders, etc.) then they will deny warranty. Basically one freebie then you are on your own after that. So I can't complain about my local dealer.
Just to address the warranty issue, I've seen both sides.
I always de-program and disconnect the Outlook before service. I had my lift pump take a dump out of my local area and had to use an unfamiliar dealer. I was able to de-program and disconnect but since it would not run, there was no history in the computer. That combined with the Outlook sitting there had me doing some explaining that it was not "Chipped."
I got my pump under warranty but get treated much better by my local dealer. They sell chips....
