Big News!!!!!!!!!!!!
To me it shows the confidence they have in the new diesels. What would have been wrong with putting on the lifetime warranty on the grand cherokee with the 3.0 diesel?? How can I justify paying 39,000 for a diesel one with 36,000 mile warranty when I can get a 5.7 Hemi with a lifetime warrantyfor at least $3000 less??
Its good to see that you can get a 3500 dually with a 5.7 and you know if you pull heavy with it, its not going to hold up but dodge is going to stand behind it
Sorry to say but I will not buy another DC product when they warranty a gas product better then a diesel.

Cerberus has determined to start the new Chrysler with the focus on quality! If they pusue this to their vendors and dealers which should go without saying thenthey are on track to be the biggest player in the auto biz but if they are just talking the talk, well you know
. I don't know about the rest of you but my 6.7 is warranted for 100,000 miles and at my age that is probably longer than lifetime but they will make a new body style or a new 8 speed or something and I will fall in love all over again
. Let Cerberus have 1 year to see if they really mean qaulity not quantity, if they do we ALL win.

So now, with new owners, Crysler is focused on quality? How nice! Dear Crysler, if you want to stay in business, offer a 5 year 60K mile bumper to bumper warranty to prove you support your customers. Or, better yet, offer the Cummins with a factory 7 year 250K warranty that is supported by Cummins only, and the the Dodge clowns that think they are knowledgeable
diesel techs. Yea right, instead they offer a stupid gimmick instead of good
customer service and products. Don't mean to rant, but when Toyota offers
their new HD's with a Cat diesel and Cat trans that will be supported by Cat,
the Dodge in my sig will be sold.

Supposedly, this is Toyota's demand for an american diesel
installation in their future HD trucks. That their chosen supplier warrant the product they sell. Imagine that! But, right now, it's just speculation.
I hope to see a Hino diesel istalled instead.
If Dodge is so crappy and you all love to complain about them so much why do you keep support them?
Why would the dealer need to take money out of his pocket by loaning you anything? Anything he loans will depreciate by having more miles on it, needing cleaned up again, and fuel put back in it! He didn't make the truck that broke, nor did he design the parts that broke, or engineer the software that is causing problems. I know there are a lot of dealers that have loaners. The dealer I worked for had 3 or 4 minivans to loan out, and they offered a shuttle if someone needed it. As for loaning out a 30-50k truck!!!--- didn't happen! Put yourself in the dealers shoes.
A little off topic
This is a little off topic but I kept thinking of Chris Farley from Tommy boy when I read this post. Sorry
Tommy: Let's think about this for a sec, Ted, why would somebody put a guarantee on a box? Hmmm, very interesting.
Ted Nelson, Customer: Go on, I'm listening.
Tommy: Here's the way I see it, Ted. guy puts a fancy guarantee on a box 'cause he wants you to fell all warm and toasty inside.
Ted Nelson, Customer: Yeah, makes a man feel good.
Tommy: 'Course it does. Why shouldn't it? Ya figure you put that little box under your pillow at night, the Guarantee Fairy might come by and leave a quarter, am I right, Ted?
Ted Nelson, Customer: What's your point?
Tommy: The point is, how do you know the fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Building model airplanes" says the little fairy, well, we're not buying it. He sneaks into your house once, that's all it takes. The next thing you know, there's money missing off the dresser and your daughter's knocked up, I seen it a hundred times.
Ted Nelson, Customer: But why do they put a guarantee on the box?
Tommy: Because they know all they solda ya was a guaranteed piece of Edit. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me.
Ted Nelson, Customer: [pause] Okay, I'll buy from you.
Tommy: Well, that's... What?

I would like to reply to this one. I own a ford 6.0L too. 59,000 miles with not 1problem. Never owned a duramax but all I can say about them is you never really see them. Dodge does make crappy products!!! So does ford, and so does chevy. Toyota makes good products!!! Thats why currently they are #1 in sales. I also heard about the cat contract too. I heard by 2010 them putting it in their tundra. I used to work at toy stores. That would be a sweet deal if that got pulled off. Im using my new ram as a tow hog. I like the cummins for relablility and I like the new displacement. I think this new 6 speed auto will hold up really well. Im getting 1 hello of a deal. And I will own this ram for awhile. Sorry to say I think DC products are pos. And now that they are bought out by some bank in NY, who knows where they gonna end up now. When TOY does there deal, I will still keep my ram, but I will own the TOY too!!!!! BTW Toys are bad Edit
You kinda contradict yourself here.
Let's see, Dodge =POS and Ford = Awesome (in your post)
Yet you bought a Dodge to do your towing and your Ford is a show truck????
I'm confused.
While my first choice would obviously be a well running 6.7 Megacab 3500 with a lifetime warranty, I'm kidding myself to think that I couldn't do what I personally use a truck for driving a 1500 single or quad cab with a 4.7 V8 or a Hemi. Heck - I could probably get away with a Grand Cherokee and a decent trailer hitch
.
I would really love to stay in the diesel market, just because I like them. But if someone's going to warranty a gasser for a lifetime that will fit my needs, and gets close to the same mileage as I get now, then that'll probably be my next purchase.
I guess what I'm saying is - Chrysler Group - if any of your folks are reading this - please add the 2500/3500/diesels to your new warranty offering.

It's not that I feel that everything they do is crap, I feel that the things they currently do is a gimmick at best. I had a 99 Cummins before the one in my sig that I did have a few problems with over the years. Only a 140 amp alternator fuse left me walking in 105K miles. Not to bad in my book. But, when I compare the service I got from owning my four different, new domestics, and that of my wife's old Acura, its a miracle I would even have considered buying another domestic. This is where the Toyotas and Hondas dominate. I'f you've never owned them both, you have nothing to compare for a comment. As far as this Cerberus ownership, I feel that this will be the beginning of the end for Crysler. They have no desire to be the best, just get that share price up so they can sell for a profit. I know I'm alone when I say this, but the worst thing to happen is the split from Daimler.
^ I agree 100%! Cerberus is only in it for the cash. Daimler really stepped up the quality and fit/finish from what I could see after their take over. The amount of silly little problems I saw when I worked at the dealer dropped hugely! I hope like heck that Cerberus keeps it up, but have a sinking feeling it won't happen.
