Battery Charger

Any advice on getting a solar charger for my '08 Dodge 3500? I was thinking about getting one that plugs into the cigarette lighter-- kinda set it and forget it. I only use the truck for towing and weekend chores, so I imagine it might sit for a week or two without being fired up.

My previous truck, a '01 Ram 1500, still had its original battery when I traded it this year, and I used to throw it on a solar charger. Any difference between using one for a diesel as opposed to a gas motor?

my opinion is, don't bother for less than a couple of months.... mine sets for up to a month now that i'm retired and it always starts

I don't think the cigarette lighter is always hot. At least on mine it stays hot after shutdown for few minutes or until the doors are opened.
