Aux Fuel tank with the 6.7lt
Well, BIG OOOPPPSS. The dealer started to install the 52 gallon tank today and guess what? Turns out this is in fact is the 52 gallon tank for the cab/chassis trucks and it WON'T fit my truck (QC-SB) unless the spare is removed!
What really ticks me off, is I originally asked them to put in an Aerotank 60 gallon unit (which drops the spare tire 6") and they suggested the 52 gal unit instead. I SPECIFICALLY asked them if it was a straight replacement and didn't require dropping or removing the spare.
My bad for assuming anyone at a dealership actually knows what they're talking about
. My apologies if I led anyone astray with this info.
Looks like you will have to go with an in-bed tank or an aftermarket unit like the one from aerotanks.

I wouldnt mind removing my spare(when I get my next set of tires, 37s, I wont be able to run one in the stock spot anyway)
BUT, I might be better off trying to fab up a tank to go back there...
I installed the 51 RDS tank in my 07 ram3500 with 6.7 Diesel. It works great! I leave the valve open all the time and have not had it throw a code yet. I installed a Holley fuel pump to assist the flow but don't need it till the tank is about 1/2 full. After that point it will not siphon (this tank has the connections near the top of the tank for output) I am sure it would work fine if I connected to the drain line. Have run several tanks thru with no issues as of yet.
I did end up getting the tank from Aero tanks that replaces the stock tank. They say it is a 60 gallon tank, but the first time I filled it up I was able to get 65.1 gallons into it. It replaces the stock tank and you end up dropping your spare tire about 6 inches. Works great so far.
Aero Tanks sells a bunch of different size units to fit any truck. Go to their website at www.aerotanks. com
