Auto Fast Idle

Warming up the truck this frosty morning and the low idle went to high idle (1000 rpm) on its own after about 5 minutes or so. Is this normal? I had the EB engaged if that matters.

Definitely normal... does it to help protect itself from gelling...

The high idle will kick in at a certain ambient temperature. Not sure what that number is but it is definately normal for it to do that.

Does the EB on help the truck's heater to warm up the cab faster? And do you engage it when you start the truck?

27 degress this morning and mine did the same thing, scared me a little at first. I hit the brake and it went right back to normal. The technician at my dealership told me that the EB will help it warm up faster. Don't know if he is just blowing smoke though. Kinda cool that the truck does it on its own

Yes, the EB will help the truck warm MUCH faster. My 2004.5 would not even come off the peg on my way to the train station. The 2007 will be at mid-operating temp about half-way there.

yeah it makes a pretty cool sound when you turn on the Ebrake and engage manual high idle up to around 1300rpms. Also gets the cab toasty quick.
