Anyone have an '09 6.7? Any problems yet?
As of MPG i worked long with the techs at dealer. It is hand calc 10 to 12mpg. I wanted 16-18. As my dad told my one day. After i was coming back from dealer. Why you are there again ? I said MPG !!! he said You bought a monster because you wanted power and size. I answered yes. He said are you happy with power and size of you truck. I said yes. He said now if you want milage you should buy Toyoata Prius not a 6.7 monster. It needs fuel to deliver power not air. What i was told as many people compare this 6.7 engine to 5.9. Is a totally diffarend animal. Drove 5.9 and 6.7 stock. Stock 5.9 is not for me thats for sure. Since then I never bothered dealer again about milage. Try finding 5.9 and drive it for a week then switch back to 6.7. I think 5.9 is a great engine but everybody wants more power. Every owner of 6.7 or 5.9 was his truck to be quicker and better then Ford or Chevy. Companys fight to make you choose their product. Thats why 6.7 smoks more gas than 5.9. For 2 reasons #1 acceleration #2 power. As many say here dyno numbers really close for those 2 motors. But drive 2 and you will see diffarence. As for some issues that 5.9 and 6.7 have guess. I did my homework all of them have issues Ford Chevy there is no perfect car or truck.
Ktmrdr85 in my opinion depends what type of driver you are and what you want. For my pick if you need a truck for work for pulling power and regural driving and better milage get 5.9. If you want speed, acceleration and all above get 6.7. But dont quote me on that i know people who have 5.9 with 10mpg and a lot of troubles with them as 6.7. My recommendation to everybody stop looking at rpm and other stuff. Stop nailing it to the floor or driving slow. Just drive it thats all. Good luck
I like my truck, been real good with only one trip to the dealer in 12,000 miles. I had the turbo cleaner and the tech also cleaned the boost sensor tube which will cause the p-2262 code. Around town I see 14-15MPG and highway 18-20MPG. After having a 6.0 Ford blow up in my driveway, I real like my Dodge.
So what about some feedback on the 6 spd auto? How well is it doing under normal driving and towing conditions? I drove one over the weekend. I was impressed, definitely liked the ability to pick the gear (especially in town to keep it out of the top gears).
Been a manual guy most of my life, but this looks like it might have promise.

I was is in the same boat. All of my previous CTD's have been 5 speeds. Really leary of the auto but now after having it, I like it. Works well in town, I like T/H mode the best with the exhaust brake. If you drive is calmly you usually only need the brakes for the last 20 ft before the lite. I will be towing this summer and thats when I will know for sure how it behaves.
09 1 ton quad cab long box. 900 miles turbo disintegrated. All but about 150 of the 1650 miles on it so far are pulling a 24' goose neck cattle trailer. I like the power and the tranny so far. the lie-o-meter is reading 10 to 11 mpg, never have reset it since I bought it. We have had Fords all my life and the 6.0 sent me to Dodge. Wasnt too happy when the turbo went at 900 miles. The ride and interior leaves a lot to be desired compared to my last two fords but it was a $15000 cheaper than the ford so I can forgive that. I am taking it on a longer trip w/o the trailer this weekend so I can play with it a bit more.
I have an 09 Megacab 2WD Auto and I have had ZERO Problems. Gets 18.5 MPG hand calculated with mixed driving (75%Hwy).
Love this Truck and I plan on having a LONG relationship with it.

I ask this question because I really want the 6.7s to take off and I really want to believe that they'll have a good 5.9-type reliable motor here.
I want to get a new diesel, but I dont see how you guys can even cope with all of these problems.
So, has anyone had experience with the '09s yet? And are they so far still trash with no improvements over the last 2 years that they have been out?

My "early" 08 threw the clogged turbo code at 11,000 mi-it was cleaned
and then replaced the next week. At 22K the same code came up and a
second cleaning was done. I'm not looking forward to 33K. My mileage
seems to be on the low side of what I'm reading here. I get about 8.5 to
10 mpg pulling a tall fiver, maybe 18.5 running carefully on the Interstate
and 14-15 around town. The six-speed transmission is great and the
exhaust brake is outstanding, especially, coming down Wolf Creek Pass.
The truck is stock except for a vented tail gate and air bags.
The regen messages have occured during cold weather and slow driving and went after about 5 miles driving around 2500 rpm.
I need to look up the service time on the transmission.
The GPS girl is pretty smart and I like the Sirius radio.
All in all it is a good truck.

I bought my truck to pull my camper. Of the 3250 miles on her, well over 2/3's of those miles have been pulling. I just got back from my first "long" camping tow of the year, 1500 miles round trip pulling a 7000lb+ camper. On the leg down, I was pulling 11.9 MPG hand calculated @70 mpg(BTW, 70MPH =1800 RPM). The leg back we fronted a stiff head wind and mileage suffered accordingly with 9.5 mpg @ 65+mph. That 9.5 would have been the high when I was pulling with my gasser. This truck is a beast, love the exhaust brake, plenty of power and no sweat up the hills. I'm a believer, I'll never go back to gas.
