Air restrictor.

I was told a few days ago to pull the air restrictor that is between the filter and turbo. I did this and immediately saw and increase in fuel mileage. Have any of yall done this and is it harmfull?

My S & B kit eliminates this and now I can hear the turbo whistle

I don't see what is would do besides cut the noise down.
