I've had an AFE stage I on my 03 3500 for about 4 years and 80,000 miles. I went to tow my boat about 100 miles, no power 2,600 rpm and shutdown. I found out my 1,000,000 air filter was pulling a vacuum. I'm done with these supposed high volumn air filters. I reinstalled my stock system, new filter $27.00 AFE $ 75.00. I bought the system for over $300.00 and ended up buying (2) more filters at $75.00 each so thats $450 for 80,000 miles, or I could have put in 16 stock filters or a new one every 5,000 miles for the same price. Don't be a fool like me. Also I have a used AFE system for a 2003 2500 or 3500 for sale cheap, you buy new filter.

 

Did you clean it in the 80k it was on the truck?

 

Good call. When I used cleanable filters they got cleaned every 10K because they looked like crap running dirt roads and summertime with bugs. I never had an issue.

 

^^^^ that was going to be my question. I have NEVER had a problem with cleanable filters as long as you clean them. They will not "pull a vacuum unless they were dirty hence the filter minder

 

Not being a S.A. but getting real dirty is a good thing in my book.Means its trapping stuff.

 

so are we gonna hear if it was cleaned or not????
